The Trouble with Snowman

"Kyon, you need to roll more snow into it," Haruhi yelled, brushing snow off her mittens. "I want to make this snowman as large as possible."

I glared at her, hoping it would somehow melt the snow. "Haruhi, if I make his head any larger we won't be able to lift it." Not to mention that I have better things to do then to be forced to build a snowman like we're elementary kids. If you're wondering why Haruhi is forcing us to build a snowman, I honestly have no idea. However, I knew something was up when I noticed the eerie gleeful look on her face upon seeing the falling snow. I knew we were bound for trouble.

Haruhi seemed to ignore me as she began to harass Asahina-san. "Mikuru, did you get the hat?"

"I have it right here," Asahina-san replied. "But the drama club said they want it back by the end of the day-"

Haruhi seized the hat. "Once they see our snowman, they won't care about trivial things like that."

That's your opinion. Nagato-san then appeared holding a large pile of small stones in her hands.

"Good work, Yuki!" Haruhi cheered. "Now all we need is for Itsuki to finish the body."

"Which I just completed," Koizumi conveantely replied as he patted his giant snowball.

"In that case, let's build this snowman."

Surprisingly, it was quicker to build the snowman than it was to gather the material. Haruhi left the heavy labour of lifting the giant snowball head to Koizumi and I, while the task of decorating the snowman was left to the girls. I will admit, it was cute to see Asahina-san cheerfully tie the scarf around the snowman's neck. Even Nagato-san seemed to enjoy it.

Once the snowman was complete, we took a step back and admired the snowman. "He looks great!" Haruhi commented proudly. "He looks like he could spring to life any second."

Please, don't go saying stuff like that, I prayed. "So, now we can go inside, where's it warm?"

"Right after we make snow angels!" Haruhi grabbed Nagato-san and Asahina-san by their wrists and charged forward to the other side of the field.

"B-But, I don't have snow pants!" Asahina-san cried.

I groaned. "She's acting just like a kid."

Koizumi smiled, putting his hands into his pocket. "True, though they say it's actually quite healthy to let your inner child out once in awhile."

"That's right," the snowman suddenly replied. "Nothing wrong with having a little fun."

I didn't move or say anything. I merely glanced to Koizumi.

He smiled back. "Then again, perhaps it is time to coax Suzumiya-san back inside."

"We'll drag her if we have to."

As we walked toward the girls, I swear I heard the snowman ask in a confused tone, "Was it something I said?"
