A/N: Okay, this started out as a dare on Serebii to write a drabble of my least favorite shipping (I'm pretty tolerant shipping wise, but after some thought, I settled upon Rocketshipping). But when I heard that Maddie Blaustein passed away, I decided to make it more Meowth-centric in her memory. Is it perfect? No, but hey, at least I tried. R.I.P., Maddie. This one's for you.

"Hey! Get yer butts in gear! We gotta Pikachu ta catch!" Meowth screamed at Jessie and James, who were currently sleeping like a couple of Snorlax. However, the only responses he got were Jessie murmuring about an imaginary Wobbuffet not staying in its ball and James going on and on about bottle caps.

The Scratch Cat Pokemon sighed heavily. The twerps were scheduled to make their way through this area, and they needed to get started on one of their trademark pitfall traps right away, which they obviously couldn't do if he was the only one awake.

It was times like this that Meowth wished Arbok was still around. He knew how to use Dig and could rig up a pitfall quite easily. Why Jessie never took advantage of that was beyond him, but there was no denying the charms of a hand-dug trap.

A voice caught his attention. It was Jessie's, and what she said shocked Meowth beyond belief, and probably James, if he was awake to hear it: "Oh, James, you went through all this trouble for me?"

And then, just when Meowth thought things couldn't get any stranger, he heard James reply, "Well, after your victory in the Grand Festival and our recent promotions, you deserve nothing but the best."

If Meowth didn't know better, he'd say they were having the same dream. But after the dialogue that went on between his sleep-talking teammates, he had to admit that was an extreme possibility.

"Yes, but a four-star hotel and dinner at such a fine restaurant?" Jessie questioned. "I have to admit, it's too much for me after living on canned noodles and crackers for so long."

"Look," said James. "I know I didn't have to go this far, but I really wanted to. After all, we have everything we ever wanted now, right?"

"I guess you're right," said Jessie. She stood up, eyes still closed, as if she was waiting to receive a hug. "Now, come here." James got up as well, and embraced Jessie with as much passion as he could muster.

Meowth could sense the oncoming kiss that was prepared to strike at a moment's notice. Truthfully, he didn't want to ruin such a tender moment, but they needed to get to work, and besides, the looks of shock on their faces would be too good to pass up. Along that line of thought, he decided he'd let the lips wake them up.

And wake them up they did, for the instant their lips made contact with each other, both pairs of eyes shot open, both faces pulled away, and both mouths let out bloodcurdling screams.

All the while, a certain cat Pokemon was laughing his charm off.

When they finally calmed down, Jessie and James blushed embarrassedly. James was the first to speak. "How much did you see?" he asked.

"Idiot! He would have heard more than he saw!" Jessie yelled. Turning sheepishly towards Meowth, she repeated James's question, substituting "hear" for "see."

"Da whole ting!" said Meowth. "And may I say, youse two sounded like you were very much in love." That was when he found himself being picked up by the tail and swung like an Olympic hammer. Poor Meowth was too busy screaming to even protest as he went soaring off into some random direction – judging by the feel of the wind on his fur, north-northwest.

Now, Meowth had been wondering for some time when Jessie and James would get together. But now he knew that the only place that would happen is in their dreams. He sighed as he landed, and trudged back towards camp.

Good thing cats always landed on their feet.
