Confession
When I saw that Jim Kirk truly mourned the android Rayna, who had ceased to function in part because of her love for him, I had to help. But I, a Vulcan, lied to myself about why. It was not just out of sympathy. A machine – what I had so often been accused of being – had engendered love in Jim. My suggestion to "forget" was motivated by jealousy. Mind melding for personal gain is a violation, and no matter how I rationalized it at the time, justice demands that I admit the truth to myself now, and pay the penance.
