Closer

Two figures, one tall and lanky, the other not, slip into the darkened observation deck of the starship in which they travel. Together, they gaze out into boundless space.

The shorter one speaks: "Constant as the northern star."

"Julius Caesar, Act 3, Scene 1."

"No…I meant you. You're as constant as the northern star -- and just as distant."

The tall one examines the star field intently and says, "Given our current position, we are 53.271 billion kilometers closer to Polaris than we would be on Earth."

"So, out here we're...closer...than usual?"

"Yes."

"Then kiss me, Spock."

"Yes, Jim."
