Gibbs stood outside of Abby's lab and stopped. He didn't know why or how, but he suddenly began to ponder his relationship with Abby. He would do ANYTHING for her. He knew it, she knew it, his team knew it, and even still his enemies knew it. He couldn't explain it...she came to NCIS and in getting the job as their forensic scientist she also had gotten his heart. And he didn't have a clue how.

He loved her. I mean really loved her. He knew that she had always had a crush on her "silver-haired fox" but he never really thought about his feelings for her. Well, that was a lie, deep down he'd always known he cared for her, but he had told himself not to consider a relationship with her because he would ruin it like his other relationships had been ruined. So he pushed the feelings aside and ignored them. Or tried to at least.

He realized at this very moment as he watched her zoom around her lab listening to the most horrific music he had ever heard, that he didn't care about how his other relationships had ended. He didn't care that Abby was younger then he was or that they were polar opposites. All he cared about was Abby and the fact that if she gave him a chance to love her she would never regret it.

When he finally stepped in the lab it was with a renewed purpose...He Loved her and he had to tell her. As she turned and saw him enter her lab she wasn't surprised to see something different in his eyes. She had been waiting for years to see that look. As he walked towards her with a purpose she had never seen before she smiled. He walked until he was standing right in front of her and he kissed her right there in the lab...because he loved her.
