Holy shit has it really been this long? I'm so sorry.

This is short. But I'll try to make longer chapters when I update again. And I promise that this time it won't take me another 5 years.

Chapter 6: I will not set off fireworks with the host club.

The Tanabata Festival was about to occur and like most residents of Japan, the Host Club was ready to go all out. They had their costumes prepared, caterers chosen, and even decided on a new location to entertain their guests.

Tamaki, feeling that their guests deserved the biggest and most grand festival, originally planned on going to Sendai.

Kyouya shot down that idea as soon as it came out of Tamaki's mouth. No way was he going to pay for all of that. While they did have a lot of money, they were still on a budget.

After many hours of debating (Kyouya) and puppy eyes (Tamaki) the two finally came to a consensus.

And that was how the hosts decided to hold the party at the Hitachiin Estate.

"No, no we need more flowers here."

"Place that fountain over here."

"I think we need more cake."

Haruhi sighed as she walked around with bouquets of flowers in her hands. She was in charge of placing on every table. With all the planning and everything happening it seemed less like a festival and more like a spectacle. It was all headache inducing and all she wanted to do was go home and cook dinner for her father. It had become tradition for the two of them to spend dinner together and then treat themselves to mochi. With her eye twitching Haruhi realized this was one tradition she probably wouldn't be able to keep. Especially when being surrounded by the host club.

"Haru-chan!" Hunny came running up to her with Usa-chan in one hand and a box of cake in the other, "Do you think the guests would like strawberry or chocolate cake more?"

"Um.. I would go with strawberry," Haruhi scratched her head. Did it really matter?

"Ok Haru-chan!" Hunny smiled up at her, "Oh and Haru-chan? The guests will be here soon! You should go change!"

"Hai Hunny-senpai," Haruhi dropped the last bouquet in the vase and walked over to the twins to get her outfit.

As she neared them, she felt a sense of dread overcome her.

"What are you two doing with Tamaki-senpai?" The three of them were crouching on the ground with cylindrical objects in their hands. They were already dressed into their Kimonos.

"Oh don't worry Haruhi. It's a surprise for everyone. You can find out with the rest of our guests," Tamaki gushed as he poked more holes in the ground.

"Yeah, don't worry about it Haruhi-" Hikaru started

"-Just go change." Kaoru finished looking up from the ground. He gave her a slight reassuring smile.

"I-Ok? I'm leaving." Haruhi shook her head and walked into the mansion to find her change of clothes. Whatever happened wasn't any of her business anyways.

Suprisingly the entire night went well. There were no cake shortages, no girls cried, and everyone loved the idea of sending their wishes off with lanterns instead of just tying them to a tree or sending it down a river. The girls chatted excitedly as Tamaki entered the stage.

"Now ladies, I know this day is coming to an end," He put his hands up to stop the groans and whines, "but we have something special for all of you. If you would kindly turn around, your surprise is waiting for you."

Eagerly, and almost jumping with anticipation, the girls turned around to find Hikaru and Kaoru standing on a slight hill. In their hands were candle lighters and their eyes shined with exhilaration. Haruhi had that faint sense of alarm come over her once more. She closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath.

'Whatever is going to happen will not end well.'

Tamaki snapped his fingers, "Hikaru, Kaoru. Light them up!"

The two saluted and got to work, lighting each of the cylinders as fast as they could and then running away to a comfortable distance.

The first cylinder shot off into the sky and created a star figure. The girls squealed at the display and chatted amongst themselves. The dinner tables had been removed and soft blankets were placed on the grounds instead. The light atmosphere made Haruhi forget all her doubts. She let out a wry laugh and shook her head as she turned to Tamaki.

"This was a good idea senpai."

Tamaki slightly blushed and coughed into his hand, "Well I can't all the credit for it. Those devil twins helped come up with the idea."

Haruhi nodded and lay on the grass looking up. The firework display was almost complete and this was the most relaxed she had felt in a long time. Just as she took a deep breath, she felt something zoom past over her head and an explosion happen behind her. The girls had started screaming and were trying to run away.

Turning her head she realized the latest firework hadn't reached its original target. Instead of heading towards the sky, it exploded inside the Hitachiin mansion. Her jaw dropped as she saw sparks flying out. Tamaki was frozen beside her gaping at the mess and she was pretty sure Kyouya was scaring whatever customers were remaining with his unintelligible mumbling and furious scribbling. Honey had ignored what happened deciding that the last slice of strawberry cake was more important, and Mori was making sure none of the said cake was getting on Usa-chan.

Haruhi winced as she turned to look at the twins. For the first time in her life she saw them completely gob smacked and slightly pale. Hikaru gulped before turning to Kaoru and pulling on his shirt until he too looked away from the sparking mess. The two stared each other for a couple seconds before simultaneously sighing. Walking closer to Tamaki and Haruhi, Hikaru and Kaoru pulled out their phones.

"I'll call mom," Kaoru stated, before walking off. He stopped for a second and turned around to give Hikaru a quick glance, "No green."

Hikaru nodded and quickly started punching buttons on his phone. Haruhi shared a quick glance with Tamaki before looking back.

"Uh, Hikaru? What are you doing?"

Not even looking away from his phone he mumbled, "I'm trying to find new curtains. This gives a chance to redecorate. And the old curtains we had were ugly anyways."

Haruhi's eye twitched and once again she wished she was at home.

'Damn rich people.'

I feel like I always end my chapters with Haruhi vaguely ticked off. Oh well.

Based off a true story. For the Fourth of July a couple years ago my friend invited a couple of us to her house. Her and her neighbors always have a competition to see who has the best fireworks. Well one of her fireworks that went off was slightly angled so instead of the sky it exploded in her house. We were all shocked and panicking but when we turned to my friend she shrugged and said "those were fugly curtains anyways."

And the best part was that her mom said the same thing when we asked if there was anything we could do to help. I guess it runs in the family.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to bed. Its 6:30 am here and I'm dead tired.

If you find any of my information to be wrong let me know so I can fix it. I'd really appreciate the help since all the knowledge I used in this chapter came from Wikipedia.
