I thought I'd have a little fun here and review my Samurai Pizza Cats: Chronicles stories.
Now I know these stories aren't popular in review sense of things but these were my first stories on Fanfiction that I was actually dedicated too. I also know Fanfiction doesn't take kindly to these sort of chapters, that's none story. Meh.
I wrote these when I was 17/18, over 15 years ago, so when going back to reading these, I'd have to admit, I did cringe but overall happy I done them. So, let's do this.
Ginzu and the New Era: 4/5
It was always hard to "Sequel" from the amazing cartoon but I'm glad it was this. I had Speedy and Polly unsure of their relationship, Bad Bird (Now Good Bird) getting married, using the stag do to introduce new characters (Mainly brother and sisters of the three hero's) and making Francine a bad guy by touching Speedy's Ginzu Sword. The swearing is a little over the top and the dialog is a little squashed, unlike my later works but it's readable. And I love the set up, proving that SPC can be dark and funny. The only thing I'd change is Speedy's relationship with Polly… I found it a little… cringy. Ultimately, I'm proud of this is the start if things to come.
Double Shadows: 5/5
My favorite and probably the goriest written story I've ever done. I loved the idea of the cats being replaced by evil clones of themselves. This was the story that made me kill off some main characters as I wanted to shorten the character list and boy did I prevail. The scenes where the cats fight their clone selves, I thought, was genius and I'm sticking by that. The swearing once again is way over the top and I kept the zany humour in it as a tribute to the show. Also, I'm the main bad guy (Sort if) and gave myself a satisfactory death. I could never beat this and went way over my head that I thought I could. Still, I'm proper proud of this one.
Revenge: 3/5
I do like this story. Speedy forgets Polly's birthday and goes out to buy a gift in the last minute, which happens to be a mirror that shows your desires. This is a rip off of Harry Potter, even the ending was based on that but gave it a SPC twist. I killed off some main characters and with the art and bullshit storytelling, bought them back to life. Aside from the rip off, I didn't like the plotting of the story and the characters make stupid decisions but overall, it does have its funny moments which is why I like it. It was fun to write anyway.
The Loss: 3/5
Ah, yes… The story where I killed Polly Esther, my favorite character. That was the basic premise of this story and how the characters would cope. The beginning and middle were good but the ending I felt was a little rushed, run down and boring but it was nice to have a bit of emotional story telling for once. It should've ended there but nope and that's when it started becoming a downfall.
One Year Later: 2/5
My worst story in the Chronicles series. Fuck me. Basically it was about the surviving characters getting on with their separate lives one year later. And boy, do I hate it. One character got raped at her work place, another had sex with an underage girl… yeah, I was trying to go for shock value but I put no thought into my writing and it's a complete mess and all over the place. It was painful to read this. The only saving grace is that the first "Chapter" about one of the characters is actually good, the rest is rubbish. This story reminds me not to write shit without thinking about it.
The Spirit Darkness: 3/5
Its a massive step up to the last story but I feel the characters were dull and uninspiring. However, towards the end, I was back to my normal self and had some great fight scenes, it also occurred to me that I missed the characters I killed off from the previous stories, so had a great idea to have one of the sons to go back in time and change the timeline. (Long before Deadpool did, so don't use that shit on me). The trip through the mountains and the end scenes I thought were smart and amazing but I couldn't believe the beginning and middle were boring. I relied on a lot of sex jokes and swearing but once you get past that, it's actually a good fitting and finish to a series that, despite some bumps and cringe moments, I'm more proud of this series than disappointed… and I wouldn't change it for the world.
…...
If you ever read them, just… remember, fanfiction was new to me and I was a young chap who loved seeing his favorite characters go through trials and pain.
If it weren't for this series, I wouldn't still be here now… and by here, I mean Fanfiction. Net.
Thank you for taking your time reading these and my other stories.
