Everything's Changing

Another time, another tide. Rose Tyler's eyes glazed over as she surveyed the surrounding beach. He took her hand, and held it, silently, as her tears began to flow. It was hard for her, he knew. She needed time. Something she hadn't had before, and now he could give it to her. How different were they, really? They looked alike, and the same thoughts whirled around in their minds. Their feelings for the girl beside him were identical. But he was mortal. Or, as mortal as one could get. It wasn't that the other one was totally immortal.. no, he just escaped death by changing his face. Every single atom of his existence changed; every cell in his body twisted and turned to become something new. Everything changed. A smile crept up onto his face as he recalled Jack's words. "Everything changes," he'd said, when they'd been running from the Futurekind on Malcassairo. Everything changes.

She leaned back against his chest, and heard the beating of one heart. Not two, like she was accustomed to. One heart. He wasn't him, they were both aware of that. So who was he? Hair, eyes, even the suit. Though, she wrinkled her nose, he could live without the purple t-shirt. Maybe she could even get rid of that suit.
"Doctor," she felt hesitant using the name, the title, whatever it was. A memory that seemed so distant though it wasn't yet three hours old, came back to her. "I name you, forever, you are the Destroyer of Worlds!" Davros' cackle echoed in her mind, and she winced. Not from the terror of Davros, but from what it had meant. Destroying the Daleks.. She turned to the man holding her. "Doctor.. what is this?"

"I - I don't know." But he did. He knew it, and she could feel it.

Were they destined to be together? '..A pair of star-crossed lovers..' How ironic. She laughed, sardonically. Romeo and Juliet didn't have anything on them.
