It was a sunny Saturday morning in Domino. Seto Kaiba did not have to go to work, so he decided to sleep in. Or at least, he was planning to, until his little brother came in and jumped up onto the bed.

"Hey, Seto," he said cheerfully.

"I'm tired, Mokuba," said Seto. "Let me sleep."

"OK," said Mokuba. He proceeded to get under the covers with his brother. Seto heard the rumpling of sheets and turned around to face his brother.

"What-- what-- what are you doing?" he stuttered. Mokuba gave him an almost confused look.

"Nothing." And he settled down under the covers. Seto rolled onto his back and chuckled.

"Mokuba…"

"I won't talk. You can still sleep. You won't even know I'm here," Mokuba explained. Seto rolled back over onto his side so that he was facing Mokuba.

"You just want to cuddle a little bit, huh?" he asked with a smile. Mokuba grinned and nodded. "Heh, alright, come here." Seto wrapped his arm around Mokuba and pulled him close.

"Thanks, Seto," said Mokuba.

"Hey, I thought you said you weren't going to talk," said Seto, in an angry tone of voice. Mokuba flinched. His brother was being kind to him just a second ago, and he had immediately reverted to his cold, harsh, mean state. Knowing that by saying "yes" he would be talking, Mokuba didn't speak. He knew his brother was tired.

They slept for about an hour, until Seto had to get up to go to the bathroom. When he returned, he found Mokuba sitting up on his knees in the bed. As Seto climbed back into bed he asked

"Is something wrong?"

"Um, Seto?" asked Mokuba.

"Yeah?"

"Do you love me?" Seto rolled his eyes.

"Mokuba, we've been through this. Yes, I love you, you're my little brother!" Seto said angrily as he sat back down.

"OK, but," Mokuba continued. "Why?" Seto turned his head to his brother with a frown.

"What the hell kind of question is that?" he asked.

"Well, I know you're obligated to love me. You have to protect me because you're my guardian. But sometimes I wonder…"

"Mokuba…" grumbled Seto.

"I mean, what if, by some crazy twist of fate, it turns out we're not really brothers? What if we're not really related, and all of a sudden you found out you weren't responsible for me?" Mokuba asked.

"Why would that happen? Mokuba, I have a copy of your birth certificate. We ARE blood brothers. Nothing's going to change that!" said Seto.

"I know, but, I'm just asking…do you love me just because you have to?"

Seto was silent. It was obvious that Mokuba wasn't going to let this go. But Seto had never been good at giving compliments, or just generally being nice. What was he supposed to say?

"Mokuba," he started. "Of course I love you because you're my brother. But, you're more than that, OK?"

"Yeah?" Mokuba asked eagerly, with a smile.

"Sure," said Seto, patting Mokuba's head. "You're incredibly loyal, which I appreciate. You're smart, and you're helpful. I couldn't get half my work done if you weren't around to help."

"This is really hard for you, isn't it, Seto?" Mokuba asked with a grin. Seto chuckled. It was, he had to admit.

"Anyway, I love you also because you're cheerful, and kind," Seto went on.

"Thanks," said Mokuba. Seto turned to his brother and added,

"You're cute as hell, too," and poked him in the belly, tickling him.

"Ha ha ha!" laughed Mokuba. "Thank you, Seto."

"Mokuba," Seto began again, this time in a more serious voice. "I don't want you to ever ask me again if I love you. You should just know."

"I know," said Mokuba. "And I love you, too, Big Brother." Seto ruffled Mokuba's hair affectionately.

"Good. Now, can I go back to sleep?" he asked.

"Mm-hmm," said Mokuba. Seto laid back down and pulled the covers up to his shoulders. Mokuba snuggled up next to him, and rested contentedly.
