Honey Dust

"It's not fair," Kate complained, "that this 'meeting' should happen over Christmas."
She used the term loosely. Kate, personally, thought an agency cooperation meeting between NCIS and the FBI was incredibly pointless. She doubted there was any meeting going on unless it contained a fist and a jaw.
The brunette was aggravated she wanted her husband here not at a pointless meeting. She knew the recent snowfall had delayed the meeting thus putting it on Christmas Eve, but she still put the FBI to blame. They were hosting the stupid thing.
"I know it's not ,love trust me I'd rather be home, with you cuddled up in my arms then here listening to this babble." Gibbs half-cooed.
Kate sighed and laid her head on his desk. She'd been sitting in his chair all day. McGee had raised his brows, Tony had nodded in understanding, and she had said it was more comfortable.
"Kate?" Gibbs rough voice asked.
"Yeah?" She answered as she checked her watch. She had fifteen minutes till she could go home.
She had never hated her job more. Gibbs' wasn't there and she had done paper work all day.
"I sent you an early Christmas present. Have you gotten it?"
The brunette smiled at his thoughtfulness.
"No but I here the mail cart around the corner. Jethro?" The name fell from her lips.
"Yeah?" The older man slurred. His pleasure at the sound of her saying his give named barely hidden.
"Have you gotten your early Christmas present yet."
The silver haired agent smiled. His wife was so thoughtful.
"Not yet, Love, but I here the mail people babiling around the corner."
Kate smiled.
I've got to go."
"I love you." The brunette rushed, her words honey sweet.
"As I love you." Gibbs' slurred.
They silently hung up their phones in unison, without good-byes. Good-byes were bittersweet love was not.
"Mrs. Gibbs?" The young vegan mail cart boy asked.
"hmm?" Kate huffed.
"This is for you."
Kate smiled.
"Thank you. Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas." The mail man responded.
Kate tore into the red wrapped package and into the rough brown box a smile crossed her face and a small giggle escaped her lips as she removed the contents
"Wow!" Tony exclaimed. "Kate giggling, that must be a good gift. What is it?"
"None of your business." Kate snapped as she tried to hide the small feather topped glass jar.
It was too late however Tony was already hovering over the desk. What he saw shocked him.
Honey Dust.
"Sir?" The freckled red headed mail woman asked.
"Yes?" Gibbs gripped.
"This is for you."
She handed him a small green wrapped package. Gibbs nodded and the thin woman retreated. Gibbs dug into the box paying no attention to the mess that was now piled on the floor. He smiled as he extracted the small feather topped glass jar. The dark purple label read Honey Dust.
