Three hours. Three hours and still not even a single glimpse of his shadow.
Ran silently told herself as she clasped her two hands to warm herself. This evening is just one of those long cold nights they have in Tokyo.
Different place. Different time. Different attire.
But still the same result.
Shinichi Kudo not coming at all.
There are few times that he had kept his promise of showing up to Ran, but just merely showing up. It seems like he was always in such a hurry, trying to solve the "mystery case" that he has been trying to solve ever since. That case is truly a mystery for Ran, especially because Shinichi haven't told her any single information or development towards it.
"If Shinichi will not show up within a count of five, I'm leaving." Ran decided. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath...
Five...
Four...
Three...
Two....
One...

"Oi, Ran, still waiting here?"
Ran's heart almost skipped a beat upon hearing the familiar voice. She tried to look as calm and casual as possible upon turning around.
"Isn't it obvious? What do you think I am doing here, counting all the stars in the sky?" Ran gave Shinichi a fake smile and rolled her eyes.
Shinichi laughed, and then suddenly turned serious.
"I'm sorry, Ran. I know that what I am doing is unfair to you. I kept you waiting and waiting, for minutes, hours, days, months. I know that even you're not telling me you are starting to get tired of it. This situation we have today may continue for months, and maybe for years, so I want to...to ask you if you are still willing to wait for me???"
For the first time, Ran hesitated. She knows that she cares a lot for Shinichi, but is she ready to wait for him for only-God-knows-when? Shinichi is right, she's also getting tired of this situation, its draining her emotionally.
Several minutes passed. Shinichi, upon recovering, broke the silence. "So, I think your answer is clear enough for me to understand. Don't worry, I understand." Then, Shinichi shrugs his shoulder, and then started to walk away.
Seeing Shinichi walk away brings Ran back to reality. "Shinichi, wait!" Shinichi stop and turn around. Ran gave her sweetest smile, and leaned forward to whisper to Shinichi that...

…
Several minutes passed with them staring at each other's eyes…
Shinichi, then, with a smirk, turned around and started walking, only waving his hand to signal that he's leaving. After seeing Shinichi's wave, Ran also started to walk on the opposite direction and a cold mist of air blown as they separate their ways.
"No matter how difficult it maybe, I will wait for you, tantei-kun..."

There goes my second fanfiction story! I actually wrote this a few weeks ago, but I was quite lazy to upload it. Hope that you enjoyed it, though I personally think that I kind-a-messed up the ending….Reviews will be much appreciated, as well as criticisms(please be gentle though in giving them)….
