Hello all! Welcome to the final chapter of "Darkness of the Night". I'm sad to have this story end but I feel like this story can go no further. I think it finally ran its course. Though, I haven't ruled out sequels! Lol we will see if I do bring in the sequel to this story. Anyways as I have promised it is the redo wedding for Glinda and Elphaba! Finally they get the wedding. I promise it's all fluffy and good. Maybe a tiny bit drama in the beginning. I would like to say a huge thank you to Varia and LuciferOfTheSouthPole for taking the time to review every single chapter I posted. I always enjoyed the feedback you gave me and having conversations with you. It helped me so much with the story. Thank you to everybody else who took the time to review the story. I did this story for you all! Now! Onwards towards the wedding! Enjoy!
Chapter 30
"Elphaba."
Elphaba squeezes her eyes tightly at the irritating voice that is trying to disturb her sleep. She had finally fallen asleep a few hours ago because of her nerves for the even that is going to happen the next day.
"Elphaba, wake up."
She gives a groan when hands land on her side and starts shaking her to attempt to wake her up. She swats the hand away with a sleepy moan. The green woman just wants to continue sleeping for just a bit longer.
"Mmm, leave me alone." She mumbles sleepily while adjusting her head on her pillow. An exasperated sigh soon follows her words. Clearly, their attempts are just not doing it. Maybe there has to be more drastic measures to wake her up.
"Of all the people to be late for their wedding because they overslept it. I expect Glinda to do it not you." Fiyero responds while running his fingers through his hair. He has been trying for the past half hour to wake up his sleeping friend. He is just about to get a bucket filled with cold water to dump on her for a rude awakening. Brown eye snap open in an instant at hearing the words 'late' and 'wedding'. This can't be happening to her. Not today…not on the most important day of her life.
"Shit." Elphaba curses as she pushes the covers off of her body as she sits up in a snap. She almost overslept her own wedding. The green woman looks to her right with a huff. Fiyero crosses his arms with an amused look on his face. It's about damn time that she finally woke up.
"Why didn't you wake me sooner?" Elphaba questions heatedly as she jumps out of the bed to make her way towards the bathroom to clean up as fast as she can then put her tuxedo on. The Winkie prince follows her with a slight roll of the eyes.
"I would have if somebody had went to bed sooner. When did you become the heavy sleeper?" He shoots back while staying just outside of the bathroom when she crosses the threshold so the green woman can dress in peace. He leans on his side resting on the doorframe with his arms crossing against his chest. There is a smirk gracing his lips as he watches a grey shorts fly back into the room followed by a white wife beater.
"I'm not. I just fell asleep just a couple of hours ago." Elphaba's voice floats out from the bathroom followed by water being run. Fiyero blows his lips in disbelief. It didn't seem to him that she just fell asleep. In the back of his mind he hopes that Glinda isn't freaking out that the raven haired beauty hasn't showed up yet. He knows that Nessa is keeping the blonde from panicking about the whole situation.
"Well Glinda, has been up for hours getting ready. You better hurry up." Fiyero replies as he adjusts his black bow tie. When Elphaba didn't show up to the chapel in the Emerald palace at the mandatory time he took it upon himself to find her. He just wanted to make sure nothing didn't happen to her much to relief he found her still passed out in the bed. The Winkie prince blinks his eyes when Elphaba walks out of the bathroom in a black tux adjusting the color so none of it looks askew. She left a couple of buttons undone as she forgoes the traditional black tie because she didn't look good on her. Fiyero's mouth opens slightly at how good she looks in a tux. Glinda is such a lucky woman. Elphaba puts her raven locks behind her with a satisfying sigh. Having magic does have its perks. She got ready in about thirty seconds flat. She raises an eyebrow at the slightly agape Fiyero. He has such an idiotic face on his face right now.
"What?"
Fiyero shakes his head out of the clouds before clearing his throat. Now is not the time to get all drooly and starry eyed. There is a wedding that is about to start in ten minutes. They need to book it.
"Nothing." He answers before he grabs a hold of her wrist. The Winkie prince will not be at the end of Glinda's wrath if Elphaba does not show up for their redo wedding.
"Now let's go. You have a wedding to get to."
Fiyero doesn't let her speak before he yanks her out of the room so she can have her wedding again.

Glinda breathes shakily through her nose as she adjusts the bouquet of white roses in her hangs for about the thirtieth time. Her insides are quivering like jelly for she is beyond nervous about having a real wedding now. Her coronation for become leader of Oz was less intimidating then this and she was in front of hundreds of people for it. She shifts slightly in the room, which is in the chapel, while adjusting her neck. In just a few minutes she will be walking down the aisle to be by Elphaba's side to get married to her again.
"Hmmm….still not there." Nessa tries to say as quietly as possible with her head sticking outside of the room eyeing towards the head of the chapel, where Elphaba should be. Fiyero came to her, when the good witch was in the bathroom thankfully, and told her that her sister hasn't arrived yet. So she had him go find her while she keeps Glinda as distracted as possible until he found the green woman. The dark haired woman didn't realize that the blonde has incredibly good hearing.
Blue eyes widen at what she hears before she quickly walks up behind Nessa and hits her on the shoulder with her roses. Nessa gives a jump of surprise and pulls her head back into the room with a deer in the headlight look. How did the good witch hear her? Glinda puts her hands on her hips with a huff. She does not like knowing that something has gone array.
"What do you mean 'still not there'? Who's not here?" She questions with her voice getting higher with each questions. Her heart is pounding greatly in fear that something has happened to her wife. She needs to know what is happening. The dark haired woman gives a slight swallow because she doesn't want to tell her that Elphaba still isn't here.
"I…uh…well…"
"Nessarose, tell me now."
Nessa gives a wince at hearing her full name being said by the blonde. She knows that Glinda means business now. She gives a shakily exhale while not making eye contact with her.
"Elphaba still hasn't arrived yet." She confesses while her ruby shoes twist on the ground. The good witch feels like the ground has given away from her at hearing this and starts to sway in lightheadedness. Something must have happened to her. Glinda stabilizes when she feels strong arms wrap around her body and pull her flush against a warm body. She relaxes in the comforting presence that Nessa always exuded whenever she is around her.
"Hey, don't freak out. I'm pretty sure she is ok. She will be here any minute." The dark haired woman whispers soothingly while her hands gently rub the good witch's back to reassure her. Glinda breathes softly out her nose while closing her eyes. Just like her sister, Nessa always could always calm her down with her voice and her touch. She is glad that her dear friend could be here for this occasion.
"You're right." She whispers before looking up to her and connects eyes with the ever changing hazel colored eyes. Glinda couldn't help but think about how she always thinks Nessa's eyes are beautiful because they never stay the same color. It always changes into some shades of brown, green, and hints of yellow. The dark haired woman bends down and places a kiss on the pale forehead, earning a slight blush from the blonde. She then lets her arms fall from the lithe waist before turning towards the door. She is going to check again because she has a feeling that Elphaba is here finally.
"I always am." Nessa replies with confidence in her voice. She grabs the handle and twists it to open the door so she can peer into the chapel again. A crooked smile appears on her face at seeing an out of breath Elphaba finally standing in her place by the altar. It's about damn time she got here. Now the wedding can go on as planned. She pulls her head back before looking back to an expecting Glinda.
"Get ready to be married to my sister." Nessa says to a now much relieved looking Glinda. The dark haired woman is happy that this is happening. All she ever wanted was for the good witch and Elphaba to be happy. This is the pinnacle of happiness for the both of them. She blinks her eyes when Glinda goes up to her, gets on her tippy toes, and plants a very light kiss on her lips. That is unexpected to say the least.
"Thank you for everything, Nessa." She whispers to her but the dark haired woman gets the underlying theme in that simple message. Her eyes soften greatly as she touches the side of Glinda's face. There isn't anything she wouldn't have done for her, past or present.
"You're welcome. Now get ready to walk down the aisle. I'm going to take my position." Nessa responds before opening the door and walks out while closing the door behind her. The good witch gives a happy sigh as she waits for the signal to walk down the aisle and get married to the love of her life.

Elphaba has her hands on her knees with her chest heaving as she tries to catch her breath. She has never ran so fast in her entire her life. The green woman is pretty sure she will not be running anytime soon. The looks she received from the few people that were invited most had relief with slight annoyance etched in their face. They didn't think there would be a wedding when Elphaba didn't show up on the schedule time but she is here now, thank Oz for Fiyero doing what he did. She would never live it down if she missed her own redo wedding.
"Look sharp now." Fiyero whispers to her with a nudge to the back. The green woman inhales deeply and quickly stands up while wiping away the sweat that formulated on her forehead. She can't look unpresentable for the most joyous occasion of her life. They decided to make it a small and intimate wedding with the people and Animals who have been there through everything with them. The two witches didn't want all of Oz to know because they didn't want all the attention on them for this. They have been dealing with that for the past six month after the Wizard got dethroned and Glinda taking his place instead.
Her heart starts to beat faster when the wedding march fills up the chapel. This is it. She is getting remarried to Glinda. She feels even more nervous now then she did the first time. Maybe it's because she thinks that something will go wrong and somebody will try to ruin this happy occasion. Heads turn when the doors open in the back to reveal Glinda in a stunning floor length white gone. It's simple dress with nothing flashy on it. A view hangs over her face which is held in place with a ring of silver roses on top of her head. The good witch used silver to represent her good friend Silver, who died for her. Elphaba hears the murmurs from the humans and Animals about how beautiful Glinda looks. She couldn't agree more. She is happy that the good witch's father is by her side to walk down her the aisle.
Glinda's parents broke down in tears when she arrived at their house in the Uplands. They had been mourning her "death" and couldn't believe that their daughter is alive. Her parents expressed their regrets about never being around Glinda when she was younger and only realized it when they received word that the blonde had supposedly died. Her father was beyond ecstatic to be asked to walk her down the aisle at her wedding. If it means spending more time with his daughter then he would do it.
Everybody stood up as Glinda starts to walk down the aisle with her arm intertwined with her father's. Elphaba grips her sweaty hands as her heart pounds hard with each step taken. Her eyebrows draw together when she sees something start to fade in on Glinda's left hand side. She inhales deeply when she sees Silver's spirit fully form by her side. How is this possible? Silver looks to the wide eyed green woman and gives a wink. He wasn't going to miss Glinda's wedding for anything, not even his death. Tears mist in her brown eyes as she watches Silver walk in step with the good witch until all three stop in front of Elphaba. A slight shiver goes down her spine at the steely look Silver is giving her. It says 'if you ever hurt her I'll haunt you forever'. When he gets the nod of understanding from her does he turn his attention towards Glinda. He watches her receive a kiss from her father does he make his move. With a happy swish of his tail Silver nuzzles at her side making the good witch stiffen up slightly and looks down to her left. Elphaba hears Glinda give a muffle sob. So she is assuming she can see the Wolf too and that the green witch isn't going crazy. She wonders if anybody else can see him or is it just the two of them? Silver just motions her with his paw because the wedding needs to continue on.
He watches with pride in his eyes as Glinda takes a hold of the extended green hand. The Wolf eyes Rain, who is standing nearby Nessa, before he walks over to take a very close spot near his daughter that he never knew. Rain's ears go straight up when he feels a presence near her.
"You look stunning." Elphaba whispers to Glinda as she guides her to stand across from her. Even with a veil hanging over her face she can see the blonde blushing greatly at the compliment. Glinda reaches forward and affectionately fixes the upturn collar of her wife's button up.
"You look very handsome. You should wear tuxes more often." She responds as she goes back to holding her bouquet of roses. Her pink lip upturns into a smirk at seeing the green skin go a deep emerald. She will ask why Elphaba had almost missed the wedding later. Right now she will enjoy this momentous occasion with the love of her life. It is just the cherry to top everything that has been going good for them. Nothing can ruin this moment.
The ceremony went very smoothly. Nobody rushed into the chapel with guns firing nor did nobody faint from their nerves. Fiyero came close but Ares was by his side to make sure that it didn't happen with quick poke of claw to his behind. He won't live down the girlish yelp he did after it happened to him. The red is his face didn't fade at all.
Glinda swallows a bit as she watches Elphaba slide the silver band, with emeralds going around the inside of the band, on her left ring finger. The green woman had their wedding bands custom designed for this occasion with Glinda's famed line 'Pink goes good with green' in the back of her mind. Her ring has pink quartz going around the band.
"There we go." Elphaba whispers with her brown eyes sparkling when she finishes pushing the band on her wife's finger. The green woman pulls the hand up and kisses the back of the pale hand with much love. There is a group 'aww' when everybody sees her do this gesture. The good witch gives a girly giggle at this with another deep blush forming on her face. The priest smiles as she closes his book and puts it too his chest.
"By the power vested in me. I pronounce you wife and wife. Elphaba, you may now kiss your bride." He says. Elphaba doesn't waste any time as she reaches forward and pulls up the view to finally reveal the good witch's face. Crystal blue eyes look up to her with expectancy. The raven haired beauty slides loser to her with left hand snaking around the lithe waist and her right hand cups the back of Glinda's neck. She has been waiting for this moment since the wedding started
"I love you, Glinda Upland." The green woman whispers before she leans down to plant a deep, loving kiss on the waiting pink ones. She feels the blonde wrap her own arms around her so she dips her while deepening the kiss. The crowd starts to clap and people give out cheers as the two woman kiss. Silver and Rain both lift their heads up to release their own howls of approval for this union. Glinda laughs happily when Elphaba pulls her back up into a standing position. This is the happiest moment in her life. The blonde rests her forehead on the green one with a huge smile on her face. How her heart is filled with so much love for this green woman.
"I love you too, Elphaba Thropp." She whispers back before returning a loving kiss on the green lips. After the kiss the two women grab each other's hand and face the standing crowd. They know they can get through anything as long as they are together. From this day forwards this chapter on their old life has finally closed. Elphaba takes the first step to guide her wife to the new chapter that is now beginning. Anything that will stand in their way had better watch out. For nothing will put a stop to their love or the good they will do with Glinda leading Oz and Elphaba by her side. The darkness has finally lifted and all they see is light on their path.

In a darkened room a crystal ball is glowing with the happy image of Elphaba's and Glinda's blissful wedding. A figure watches on as the two witches walk down the aisle, hand in hand with their faces light up with joy on their wondrous occasion. An evil laughter echoes in the room before a hand comes down on the crystal ball. It shatters the image of Elphaba and Glinda kissing again. In the shadow of the fading light a voice comes out.
"Enjoy your happiness while you can. For I will take it all away in the end. You will be lost in the shadow of the night for all eternity."
The End.
Ok…not exactly the happy ending you probably were expecting but it's the perfect setup for the upcoming sequel. I gave the name for it in the last line for this story. 'Shadow of the Night'. Yes I am making a sequel to this story. I had ideas through me especially when I brought Nessa in. I won't say who the big bad is but I will say it's set five years after this story. Everything is going good but things will happen that will try to tear down what Glinda and Elphaba has built up. I already started writing. Give me about a week or so I can get down as many chapters I can so I won't be struggling to write chapters to make the deadlines. I want it to be good for you. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this story and I hope you will like the next story that will be coming soon. Until then!
