The morning sun beat brutally down upon the courtyard, causing sweat to bead on the sole occupant's forehead. The heat however, did nothing to stop her. Thrusting and parrying, she fought viciously against her inanimate opponent, her red hair bouncing jovially in time. Never had the dance of death looked so horrifyingly beautiful.

Jester watched in awe from the gateway, taking in every splendid movement, and storing it in his memory. He couldn't help imagining his hands running through the glorious mess of red hair, as it now bounced. He couldn't stop himself imagining holding her tight, to his chest, her strong arms wrapping around him. Oh no, he couldn't stop those thoughts that plagued his mind. He also couldn't stop picturing his lips pressed against her luscious lips.

Jester shook his head in annoyance, causing the bells on his hat to ring. He had to tell Jane how he felt... at least, he knew he should tell her how he felt. The fear of rejection ripped its way to the front of his mind, causing his heart to go to his throat. Wouldn't it be better to just continue to be friends, than to possibly sabotage their relationship as it was? Wouldn't being friends with her be better than losing her completely?

It was a gamble. Jester was not sure of how Jane felt about him. Talking to her about this could make life better than he had ever imagined... or it could destroy everything he held dear.

Sighing, he made up his mind, and stayed put. Jane finished up, walking towards him.

"Good morrow, Jester!" Jane yelled, wiping her brow with a cloth.

"Good morrow, Jane. How goes the practice?" Jester replied, pushing off the wall, coming to a standing position.

"It goes well. I shall have Gunther cowering at my feet before the match even begins this afternoon."

"I wouldn't blame him. I'm sure the training dummies would run away in fear if they could. I tell you, I do not envy their job."

"Well... you seem to have come across my weakness. These targets are only stationary, and I need a moving target, to replicate the fight."

"Jane," Jester replied jokingly, "I know I may look and act like a dummy, however I am a very fragile Jester. Besides, don't you have to report to Sir Theodore?"

Jane's face changed with realisation. "Oh yes... that's right. I had better go then. Bye Jester."

"Farewell Jane," Jester called, half-heartedly.

Jester slowly walked off in the opposite direction, not caring where he went. He cursed himself for not telling Jane, for allowing their conversation to end so abruptly.

Sighing, he continued on aimlessly. Jester knew one thing. He was definitely telling her tomorrow.

A/N: Hey guys, automatic apologies for anybody that is ooc. I haven't watched that much Jane and the Dragon (unfortunately), so yeah, I can get some stuff wrong. Plus, I don't have the razor sharp with of the characters, so it is hard to come up with stuff. And I don't think this came out how I wanted it in the first place. Too much randomness, not enough coolness. But whatever. You should review!
