Author's Note: Yeah, I know I haven't updated with any stories for awhile, but school has been a bit hectic and time-consuming, and I've been having quite a bit of writer's block for awhile. But I finally got an idea for another little oneshot, and this one's a Jetara one. I've wanted to do one for a while now, so I was very happy when I finally got an idea for one.
Anyway, this is just Katara sort of reflecting on Jet's death.
Enjoy and review please! :)
The moon and the stars shone brightly overhead, and Katara smiled. She lay on her back, looking up at the night sky. Beside her lay Jet, though his eyes were not watching the sky. They were staring at her.
Katara turned her head to look at him, but when she saw that he'd already been staring at her, she felt a small blush creep to her cheeks, and she found she couldn't speak for a few seconds. But then she finally found her voice. "The sky's beautiful tonight, isn't it?" she asked, looking briefly up at the sky again.
"Yeah," Jet replied, though he was still just looking at her. There was a few brief seconds of silence before he suddenly took her hand gently in his. "Katara," he said softly, sadly. She looked at him, her smile fading at his sad tone. "Katara… I'm sorry." And suddenly, Jet disappeared. The last word, "sorry," echoed softly, almost eerily, around her.
Then the scenery around her began to fade, even the moon and stars, and all she could see was a pitch black all around her. But she could hear voices, many voices, and they all seemed amplified in that darkness.
"Tell it to some other girl, Jet!" That was herself talking.
"Katara, I've changed!" That was Jet. "I'm here to help!"
"We can't trust anything Jet says!"
"Was this guy your boyfriend or something?" Toph.
"Maybe Katara should kiss him…" Sokka.
The voices seemed to scream at her all at once, and they echoed in that darkness, and though Katara shouldn't have been able to understand them at all, she could. Then suddenly, the voices started to fade until they were only whispers. And she heard Jet's voice again, but soft and weak, "Don't worry, Katara. I'll be fine." Then she saw Jet lying on the ground in front of her, and he was looking up at her, giving her a weak, reassuring smile.
Katara found herself under Lake Laogai once again, and suddenly the rock that had hit Jet was heading towards her!
But suddenly, at the last moment, Jet was standing between her and the rock, and it hit him with a sickening blow…

"No! Jet!" Katara gasped, bolting upright. She panted as if she'd just run ten miles, and she looked around franticly. She wasn't under Lake Laogai but in a nice, large bedroom in the Earth King's palace. She sighed in relief, knowing it had all just been a dream.
"I'll be fine."
Well, not a complete dream. Katara just shook her head, calmed her breathing, and snuggled back under the covers. But before she fell asleep, she looked toward heaven and spoke, hoping Jet would hear.
"You lied to me again, Jet."
