The whole process of creating an alias had never been one of Gokudera's strong points. For all the effort he put into burying his emotions, it turned out that he was a terrible liar; and ten years serving as Right Hand to the Tenth boss of the Vongola had done little to remedy that.
Luckily (or maybe unluckily in this case), Yamamoto had the situation covered. When the guard (who wasn't even supposed to be there, damn you, Aria!) had asked them what their business was, the black-haired swordsman had very calmly stepped in front of Gokudera so that the guard's view of him was obscurred (which was really sweet, but kind of pointless if the guy decided to pull a gun) and smiled blithely (like they weren't tresspassing on the private property of one of the most powerful crime bosses in Japan) and replied-
"Oh! We're so sorry, sir! You see, me and my wife-" Gokudera made a strangled sort of noise behind him, causing Yamamoto's smile to widen slightly, "-were just out for a hike, and we got turned around somehow. Next thing we knew, it was night and we had absolutely no idea where we were," he shrugged helplessly as if to say 'what can you do?'. "When we saw the lights from your house," he nodded towards the sprawling mansion that was just about anything but a home, "my wife-" Gokudera gurgled a bit, "insisted that we stop to ask for directions. I tried to tell her that we should just wait the night out and try again in the morning, but you know how it is," Yamamoto rolled his eyes dramatically and almost laughed when he felt Gokudera hit him in the back, but the guard was shaking his head, a rueful smile on his face.
"Yeah, don't worry," he stated. "I've been married, I know how it is.I'd love to help, but the boss doesn't like visitors." He reached into his pocket and Yamamoto felt Gokudera tense up behind him, but the man just pulled out a cellphone, which he then handed to them. "Signal's not great, but it's all I can do. You should be able to get a hold of somebody to come pick you up."
He started walking, and gestured for them to follow.
"Gee thanks!" Yamamoto cheered, smiling brightly as he began to puch in a number. He could feel Gokudera glaring at him, but he could also feel the other man's hand gripping the back of his shirt.
About an hour later, Kyoko pulled up at the edge of the driveway, where the guard had led them to. She waved through the window and they all waved back.
"Well, it was nice meeting you," the guard said, turning to Yamamoto as he opened the door for Gokudera, who growled at him before climbing into the backseat.
"You too," Yamamoto happile replied, shutting the door and moving around to the other side.
"Hope you and your wife have a happy life together."
Kyoko shot Yamamoto a questioning look as Gokudera reached out to punch his "husband" in the stomach.
"Ha ha, me too!" Yamamoto laughed, climbing in beside his fuming partner.
