My muse is being mean to me and making me want to write sad stuff.
I'm going to warn you know, I wrote this while(I still am) sick, probably have a low grade fewer and just take cough med!
Long after everyone had left, hours after the funeral was over, he walk over to it.
It was nothing he realized, just a name and two dates- one birth, one death nothing that could accurately tell her life, her legacy.
Then he saw the dash he wondered, angrily, if that was suppose to be it. Was that dash supposed to tell the world all the work she done, all she sacrificed? And all for what? He thought furiously, in fifth years who will know what this beautiful intelligent woman did for this world? Would they know this woman saved the world single handedly more than once. Or how many impossible problems, that meant sure that death for everyone on earth, that she solved?
They would know none this!
They just see a stone with a few printed words- they never see the women underneath it.
"Jack." A familiar voice called his name.
"Jacob." He wanted to say something, something meaning, something what would take the pain. But he lost a child too and there were no words to dull that pain.
"It not enough." Jacob said looking down at the small gravesite.
"No, sir." He knew what was coming next ever parent had to ask.
"Was she in pain?" His voice cracked.
"Not at all, sir. Not at all." And it was the truth, one minute Sam was dialing up the gate, next minute she was dead. Shot in the back never even saw it coming, and what Janet told him never even felt it either.
"You loved her." Some who Jack wasn't surprised by this question he'd always guess that Jacob knew about his feeling toward his daughter.
"Yes, sir."
"Did you ever tell her?"
There was a long paused and Jacob wasn't sure if jack was going to answer, but then. " I had already got my retirement paper approved. I was going to ask her on a date that night." For the first time since Jacob showed up Jack turn his head turn and meet his eye. " It wasn't declaration of love but it was a start."
With a heavy sight; Jacob turn his heels and left because he knew that out of everything Sam was shorted not having Jake love was the worst of it.
