Time of Dying

Charlie Pace turned the red light off and was about to walk away when he heard something beeping. He pressed the little red button and a woman's face appeared on the screen.

"Hello? Hello? Is anyone there?" she asked quickly.

"Yes, I'm here," Charlie said in response.

"Hello? Who is this?"

"Charlie Pace. Who is this?" he asked the woman.

"Penelope Widmore."

"Dez'! It's Penny!" he yelled to Desmond.

"Dez'? Desmond? He's there? How is he?" Penny asked excitedly.

"Yeah, he's here. He's brilliant, we both are! We're on your boat!"

"Boat? What boat?" Penny sounded confused.

"The boat that was looking for flight 815! That boat!"

"But I don't own a boat…" Charlie turned around and saw Desmond running towards the room he was in. With his mind racing, he ran to the door, slammed it shut and locked it. Desmond yelled, "PENNY!"

Desmond started banging on the window with a fire extinguisher. Charlie just stood there, trying to think of what to do next. He heard a knock on the window on the other side of the room. A man with a patch on his eye held up a grenade, pulled out the pin and thrust it through the window.

Water started pouring through the window. Charlie looked around the room and remembered the sharpie he had in his pocket. Writing 'NOT PENNY'S BOAT' quickly on his hand, he thrust his hand at the window. Desmond nodded, reading what it said.

Charlie nodded his head once, pushed off the wall and crossed himself. As he pushed off, his final thoughts were- 'Claire, I told her not to worry… But she will. I know she will. I wonder what will happen when she finds out. Will she cry? Will she get over it? Will Desmond give her my greatest hits? I love her… I love her to death. I never told her so, and I'm sorry things had to end this way… I really, really love her. I wish I could've had more time. Now I'll never get to see Turniphead grow up, or Claire be truly happy again. I love her!' And with that, Charlie let his last breath out and slowly drifted out to death… Thinking of Claire the whole time.
