As They Sleep
.
The drizzle hits on the window, and the black boy smiles.
The exactly kind of silly and goofy smile that if anyone saw him doing would laugh at him. And he decides he doesn't care.
The blonde girl turns slightly in bed and seeks comfort and heat in the boy looking at her.
And he similes.
Blaise smiles as he doesn't smile since he was six and had convinced his mother to buy him a pony, even if it were a muggle animal. The long hair of his ex-classmate, ex-childhood friend, ex-Draco Malfoy's girlfriend is spread on the pillow and they are the only visible part of her.
How could a woman sleep completely covered in sheets and blankets was a mystery to him, but, honestly, it wasn't like he could care less.
Pansy was there. She could be sleeping upside down and singing the hula he would have kept smiling all the same.
Fool, silly and happy.
He turns once more, almost sitting, trying to reach the watch to see what's the time.
"Blaise...", the voice sounds muffled by the covers, "if you don't stop moving, I'll hex you till you become a lump on the mat." he laughs quietly, "And don't laugh. I'm absolutely serious. Now shut up and stop moving, I'm trying to sleep on you."
She stopped grumbling and pulled him under the covers. Blaise laughed in silence while she laid on his chest and he entwined one of his hands on her hair. Almost like an involuntary move, his hand traced her shoulders and then her long, blond hair, in a lazy, happy way. Pansy was sleeping and he would let her sleep, glad just to look at her, because she was what he'd been wanting for so, so long.
And now he had it.
Her loud, happy laugh. The sideway glances and the slightly acid tone of her words. The endless, but well humored discussions only she could keep. The person he's always wanted to have.
And now he had it.
Moments became minutes and Blaise fell asleep once again, glad to know Pansy was there. And when she woke up, hours later, and saw her long time friend, the wonderful man he had become, by her side, with her, holding her, comforting her, she knew he would always be there.
And this, more than anything else, was what she had always wanted.
And now she had it.
