Part three and a half of Contagious Concepts- A concept for my each of my favorite Furuba pairings. They take place after the reception of Tohru and Kyo's wedding (they're 22, it took him awhile to get the guts to ask her...). Its a moonlit night and there is something contagious in the air.
I'll be posting them as separate one-shots, because the ratings will change between them.
If you enjoy this one, please read my Kakeru x Komaki fic called 'Conference' and my Arisa x Kureno fic called 'Content' and the Yuki x Machi fic that goes with this one, called 'Confident'
Disclaimer- Furuba isn't mine.
R&R! I'd love to know what you think. Tell me which fic/pairing I should post/write next! No flames please, flames hurt. But kind criticism is appreciated.
Condign- worthy, deserving, fit
He had a ring picked out for her, and he knew she would love it.
The man who had sold it to him had straightened almost instantly from the bored stance that comes from working in a business that makes few passer-by sales when Yuki walked in. There was something about the young man that seemed wealthy, and when he heard the name Sohma, his suspicions were confirmed. A visit from the family was rare, but always profitable. Yuki had politely sidestepped the other man's fawning and made his choice from an understated case in the very back.
A diamond, of course, but not too expensive though fairly good sized. It's price was reduced to next-to nothing for a stone its size due to a visible flaw.
If Yuki had noticed the salesman's dismay at his failure to choose something expensive he didn't let on.
He'd spent hours staring into it afterwards, the twisted scar running like swirling smoke through the sparkling gem, trailing off into a few pockmarks that caught the light more elegantly than any engineered facet. He could memorize the stain, much less than a centimeter across, endlessly. It was captivating, the surface of the diamond was flawless and expertly cut; the fissure was impossible to feel and hard to see from a distance. It writhed motionlessly like some kind of sea creature frozen in mid-swim. It was a photograph of a raindrop splashing into a puddle, sending sparkling droplets through space and a ripple through the surface of the water.
The blemish made it the most beautiful piece of jewelry he'd ever seen.
He knew it would be even more beautiful when it was on her hand.
