Gone

Disclaimer: I do not own Cowboy Bebop.

Author Notes: This is the first Cowboy Bebop story that I have posted. This had been in my mind for awhile now, and I just wanted to get it out there.

The wind blew relentlessly outside the small apartment complex. Rain pelted the window, and threatened to break the glass. A young woman sat at the kitchen table, staring out into the storm. She sighed as she stood up and began to gather the dishes from her meal. She had just finished another dinner, alone. Her boyfriend had not bothered to call and warn her that he would be late, again.

She slipped into the bedroom and began to pull her clothes from the small closet. She threw them carelessly onto the bed.

Alisa took one last look around the apartment. By the door sat two suitcase and her purse. She pulled her keys out of her pocket, and slipped the small silver key off the ring. She placed it on the table near the door next to a black and white photograph.

The picture was of her first official date with her long-term boyfriend, and member of the Inter-Solar System Police, Jet Black. It was the night he had placed a simple silver chain around her neck. She unconsciously reached up and touched the necklace, debating weather or not to remove it.

She checked the clock on the wall before pulling the curtains shut. Her heels clicked along the linoleum floor as she hurried out the door, locking it behind her. Outside the apartment building a taxi sat waiting for her. She threw her bags in the trunk, and hurried inside the yellow vehicle.

It was later that evening when a young man unlocked the door to the same apartment. He kicked off his boots, and hung his coat on the back of the door.

"Alisa? I'm home." Silence greeted him. "Alisa?" He ran into the bedroom, and noticed the closet was wide open. Alisa's clothes were missing.

Jet ran for the door, and he came to a stop at the photograph on the table, a hint of silver caught his eye. He picked up the silver chain, and the small house key clinked on the end of it.

Alisa was gone.
