Aelita carefully slid the door to Jeremie's room open and crept in. Jeremie was distracted by working out a complicated program. She waited until the latest bout of rapid typing was over and Jeremie looked at the rows of numbers in front of him, deep in thought. After all, she didn't want to mess any of Jeremie's calculations up. As soon as his hands were away from the sensitive keys, though, she leaned forward and wrapped her arms around Jeremie (and, incidentally, the back of his chair).

"Ae...Aelita?" asked Jeremie confused.

"Yes, Jeremie. It's me." She answered simply, placing her chin on his shoulder. Jeremie blushed and hastily got up, standing opposite her.

"Why did you do that? Uh, not that I mind."

"I know you're the one who gave Chris my CD." she told him, cocking her head slightly.

"What makes you say that?" Jeremie asked, trying to look nonchalant and failing miserably.

"Well, Yumi, Ulrich, and Odd say none of them did it. But more importantly you're the only one who would do something so sweet for me." she answered like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Okay, yes, I admit I did it."

"Thank you, Jeremie!" Aelita said, and pecked his cheek.

"Well, it was the least I could do after I kept you from trying out in the first place. I'm sorry about that, by the way. I didn't realize how much it meant to you."

"It's okay, Jeremie. I understand completely. I'm just sorry I wasn't much of a help to you, and that I ruined your mood. I want to make it up to you."

"You really don't have to, Aelita." Jeremie pointed out.

"I want to."

"Well, okay then. When?"

"How about tomorrow? We could get a big breakfast and some snacks and work right through the lunch hour." she offered.

Jeremie nodded enthusiastically. Aelita just grinned. He was probably the only boy in the whole school who actually thought working through lunch was a good thing.

"But you know...Since we know Xana won't pull anything else for a little while, and since you have to show me what you've done anyway, and since you've technically just worked through two afternoons..."

"What are you getting at, Aelita?" Jeremie interrupted.

"Well, I was thinking, maybe you could take the rest of the day off? We could all have a little celebration."

"Well..."

"Please?"

"Okay, Aelita. Okay."
