Disclaimer: I really wish I owned Gravitation, but I don't!
I found Kumagoro lying in the mud. His left ear had nearly been ripped off and his right eye was hanging by a thread. It made me sick when I thought of the force that must have been used to tear Ryuichi's best friend from his grasp. I picked up the sodden, mutilated stuffed bunny.
"I found him," I called out to K who was searching a few meters away.
"That's good," he sighed in relief. "After everything Ryuichi's been through, he would be devastated if he lost his best friend too. You know Shuichi, they might not let you visit Ryuichi tonight," he warned me as we climbed into his car.
"I know that, but I have to try."
He sighed in resignation. K of all people knows how stubborn I can be, especially when it involves my lover. "Alright, we'll give it a try."
When we arrived at the hospital, I left Kumagoro in the car. I didn't want Ryuichi to see how bad he looked. I walked purposefully through the hospital. I am going to see Ryuichi tonight! The only way anyone's going to stop me is by tackling me! K sensed my determination and helped me out by diverting the nurses' attention allowing me to slip quietly into Ryuichi's room. My heart ached when I saw his bruised and battered face. He was still sobbing quietly, and I realized how deep my love for him had grown.
I sat next to him gingerly, and stroked his cheek. He immediately flinched and his eyes opened wide in panic. Then he recognized my face and began sobbing even harder. He just looked so…broken. I carefully wrapped my arms around him and started weeping too. He clung to me like he never had before. My tears fell silently on his shoulder and his tears soaked into my shirt. Running my fingers through his soft hair, I desperately tried to think of something to say to him. But try as I might, no words of comfort came forth. So I held him and wept with him until he finally went back to sleep.
"I love you," I whispered softly in his ear before I lightly kissed his forehead. Then I slipped out of his room and K took me home.
I spent the entire night trying my best to fix Kumagoro. Sewing up his ear and reattaching his eye were easy. Washing all the mud off him was what took so long. I had to wash him five times! And then it took forever to dry him because I had to use such a low setting on the dryer. Finally at seven o'clock in the morning, I was able to tie a sparkling clean red bow around the neck of a clean, sweet smelling Kumagoro!
"Now that I've fixed you, I'm going to do my very best to repair our beloved, broken Ryuichi!" I promised Kumagoro as I tucked him under my arm and headed for the hospital.
