The first thing Andie west heard was an annoying beep. Her alarm most likely. Why she hadn't turned it off for the weekend, she didn't know. Andie reached up for her alarm. she realized that it wasn't her alarm. She opened her eyes in alarm. The beeping quickened and Andie realized that it was her heartbeat. Her hand held the IV and other drips.
Then her memories flooded back to the streets. The MSA crew had won beautifully. Andie had been walking home when Tuck jumped her. The next few memories were ones she wished to erase from her mind. All too soon the pain flooded back to her. Her chest ached with every breath she took. Her arms and legs felt like lead weights. But her jaw was what hurt her the most. She could feel something in her mouth that hadn't been there before. It tasted metallic, but it wasn't blood.
Andie looked around. She lay in a clean white hospital room. The door was to her left, next to that was a large window. The tan shutters were closed and The lights were off. Andie figured that someone would be in to check on her soon.
Right on sue, The door opened and two nurses rushed in. She saw Andie awake. One turned to her partner, "Get Dr. Huttson, quickly."
Her partner nodded and rushed off. The first nurse turned on The lights. Andie closed her eyes quickly, waiting to adjust to Them.
"Sorry sweetie." The nurse apologized sweetly. "The doctor will be in very soon. He'll explain everything that' happened."
Not two seconds later did a grey haired man in a white coat enter her room. "Ms. West, I'm Dr. Huttson. As you may've already guessed, you're in the hospital."
Andie rolled her eyes. The doctor laughed slightly. "I see the sense of humor your friends warned us of has returned."
Andie looked back in shock. "Yes, Andie. Your friends know. As does your guardian. But before I let them enter, I need to explain the extend of your injuries."
Andie nodded slightly.
Huttson took a step closer. "As you've noticed, your jaw won't open. we had to wire it shut for it to heal correctly. Your jaw was fractured during the assault. Thankfully, that's the worst injury you sustained. A could of bruises and cuts, but nothing that won't heal. You're ribs will be a little sore for some time. Take things easy, and you should be back to dancing in no time. However, until then, no dancing. I understand that you do to MSA, I've already spoken to the Director and he's taken care of everything."
Andie nodded understanding. Considering how crappy she felt during Tuck's assault, she was lucky. Only a broken jaw, granted it hurt like hell, but it could've been worse. Dr. Huttson began unhooking Andie from the drips, but kept the IV in. Andie sat up, slowly. Her body ached against her.
"Your jaw should heal in a month. However, you'll be forced only to eat liquid. Believe me, I know how unappealing that is. Now that you're conscious, I'll see what we can do about discharging you. While you're waiting for that, I think you're friends and family are getting anxious." Huttson said. He stepped to the door and signaled for one.
THe Andie's horror, Chase was the first one to see her. reaction wasn't kept secret from the heart monitor. Chase looked at the heart monitor and then at Andie. He smiled slightly and sat next to her bed.
"Gee Andie, and begged Sarah to let me see you first." Chase said.
Andie rolled her eyes. Things became oddly silent.
"Listen...uh, the police caught Tuck and the others from the 410." Chase said.
Andie looked at Chase in confusion.
"I saw them Andie. I chased them off." Chase explained.
Andie realized what was going to happen next. She reached out for Chases hand. Chase took her hand gently.
"I'm sorry Andie. I'm sorry I didn't get there sooner." Chase said.
Andie sighed. Chase was blaming himself for her mistake. She knew it was a risk to walk back home alone. He had offered her a ride, but she still walked. How was this his fault?
"Chase if you keep blaming yourself, I swear I'll kick your ass." Andie said through her wire teeth.
Chase looked at Andie in surprise.
Andie let go of chases hand and touched her cheek. That hadn't been the best idea. Her jaw seared in pain.
"Do you ever think about yourself Andie?" Chase asked.
Andie shrugged.
Chase rolled his eyes and reached into his pocket. He pulled out his cell phone and handed it to her. Andie raised an eyebrow.
"Maybe texting is a safer way to talk." Chase explained.
Andie flipped open the phone and began texting. She turned to the phone back to Chase. Works for me boyband.
Chase smiled. "Just be sure the teachers don't catch you. That could end badly."
Andie text quickly. Yeah I can see it now. Instead of yelling at us to shut it, your brother takes the phone instead.
Chase laughed.
There was a knock at the door. Sarah stood at the window of the door.
"Looks like my times up." Chase said. He stood up.
Andie held out his phone for him.
"Nah, keep it until you can use your phone." Chase said. He kissed Andie lightly. "I'll be back later."
Andie nodded and watched Chase leave the room.
