Sam's POV

Hey Brady, want to play the new video game my mom bought me for Christmas? I bet I could totally kick your ass at that game… Collin's voice broke the silence in our minds as we went on our usual night patrol. There had been a moment of awkward silence, if you can believe that. Brady ran along side of him and they were having a little race of their own. His reaction was less enthusiastic than what Collin was hoping for.

Not tonight. Maybe later. I'm kind of tired, anyway. It's was a long day. He replied. We all knew, of course, that he was lying. He hadn't touched a video game since—

Sam, don't go there. You know we're not supposed to talk about you-know-who. Leah's curt voice cut off mine and I felt a little sorry. It was true; we weren't supposed to talk about—

Sam!

I'm sorry, it's just that its' been almost ten years since we all went to Italy. You'd think we'd see some sort of sign of her but so far we haven't even been able to mention her name! I'm retiring soon, you know, so I can settle down and help Emily take care of the baby.

How old is she now? Seth asked.

She's two and a half, remember? She forced you to play dress-up with her at her birthday party. I reminded him. He grunted in sudden annoyance and a picture of him dressed up in a pink dress with matching bows in his hair popped into our heads. We all sniggered loudly, Brady the loudest, and Seth snapped at his legs.

I haven't seen her since she was born! What was her name again? Jacob asked.

We named her Gabriella. I replied softly. We slowly fell into another awkward silence.

You've been gone too long. Leah chastised him. Hanging out with those Cullen's have made you gone soft in the head. Too many tea parties, I suppose.

Renesmee doesn't have tea parties. These days all she ever talks about is the Jonas Brothers and how hot Rob Pattinson looks, whoever the hell that is.

What kind of little kid likes tea anyway? Jared asked.

Technically she has the mind of a teenager, although I agree. I don't know how she likes that stuff. It takes like slightly flavored water. Jacob agreed, licking his lips distastefully.

Silence. That seemed to be all I was hearing these days.

So…how is Paul? I haven't seen him in awhile.

Oh he's okay. He doesn't do much or talk much anymore. He mostly just hangs around with Emily and pokes around the house. I'd call him out about it and tell him it's annoying if I didn't enjoy not having to wash the dishes so much. I admitted shamelessly.

In truth, it was disturbing to see Paul so unlike himself. He'd somehow lost his usual fiery attitude and it seemed like all he did was sit around all day and…wait. Waiting for what? I knew exactly who. Ever since we had come home, all he did was mope around and wait for his soul mate to return to him by the force of nature. It was as the mysterious bloodsucker had said all those years ago. If they truly were meant to be together, than it would be so.

Emily took it pretty hard. Leah said, interrupting my thoughts. She obviously knew what I was thinking about.

It had been bothering me for the past couple of days. I thought about her every time I saw Emily playing with our little Gabriella. We had been seriously considering adopting her, and we were about to too. But then everything went downhill and no one in the pack as ever been quite the same since. We might as well have lost one of the pack members. Imprints were almost as important as a comrade in the pack. The only hope we had was that she was alive, somewhere, and all we could do is wait in agonizing pain for the day we would see our beloved Gabby again.

We were all afraid that day would never come.

Yeah, she was so excited about having Gabby for a daughter. I feel so bad for her… Seth said.

I can't imagine how Paul must be feeling. To have Claire snatched so easily from me and having to make a deal between her life and what my heart wants most…I don't know how he can live like that, Quil thought.

Claire had taken the news pretty hard as well. To hear that she might never see her best friend again was not something a little girl such as herself needed to hear. She was still the same old Claire. But you could tell she still missed her old friend. Sometimes we would see her crying through Quil's thoughts when she thought about how Gabby had supposedly died by her sister's hands. Quil had no choice but to give in when Claire had pressured him into telling her the whole story of why Gabby wouldn't be coming home anytime soon.

Ten years was a long time, even for someone who had all the time in the world.

Do you think she'll ever come back? Collin asked.

We all knew deep down in our hearts that we wanted more than anything for Gabby to come home. She had grown on all of us in her own way. But ten years was a long time. Maybe she was happy with the people she had for a family now, wherever she was. Maybe she had forgotten about all of us and thought that it was all just a dream. A delusional vision, a reasonable explanation after having such a difficult childhood. Who knew what the effects of dying and coming back to life were, if she even had knowledge of her death—which I sincerely hoped she didn't. Maybe she was happy with not being with us. Maybe she was hurt somewhere, left all alone by herself. Maybe another family had deceived her and maybe even destroyed her completely. Or what if…what if she was—

Sam, please stop! I don't want to think about it! She will come home! The vampire said she would! We just have to believe in her! If she really is anything like we imagined Paul's imprint to be, then we know she is not the type to give up. If she has a feeling in her gut, she won't be afraid to follow it. She'll come back to us, I know she will! Leah snapped. I looked uncomfortable. I didn't like hearing all of our doubts and fears surface to our minds. It was one of the few things about being a werewolf that I absolutely despised.

So uh…when's your retirement party, Sam? Jacob hastily asked. We were all in desperate need of a change in subject.

It's tonight, stupid. You really have been hanging out with the bloodsuckers too long. Embry laughed.

Everyone's going to be there right? Billy, Isaac, Sue, even Charlie was invited although we just told him it was just like any normal retirement party. You know how he is about…all this mythical stuff. Jared said.

Leave it to Bella to tell every human in Washington about our existence. Brady said, rolling his eyes.

And the Cullen's are invited, right? They won't be on our territory long, I promise! They'll just be there for the party and they'll leave as soon as it's done! Jacob said. I sighed.

Yes, they are invited to (I don't know how that happened). How much longer until Emily's done with dinner, do you think? I asked.

It's gotta be around six thirty now. One of them replied.

Can we please, please go eat now? Brady's voice whined and I had to roll my eyes as the exaggerated picture of what Brady thought Emily's food looked like popped into our heads. On second thought, they didn't look quite that exaggerated and I realized I was quite hungry myself.

Fine, whatever. Go stuff your faces with Emily's delicious food while I finish off the patrol. I finally said, quickly giving in to all of the hopeful looks they were now all giving me. Having a daughter was really making me soft.

Thanks a bunch Sam! They all said in chorus and disappeared into the forest, fast as lightening.

You and I
We never get to sleep we're up all day
We're overworked and under paid
You and I
We're always stuck in repeat day by day
Watching time drift away as we burn away

The snow in the forest was the cleanest I've ever seen. It was white and untouched, covering every inch of the forest floor. It was Christmas Eve, the perfect day for snow to be falling. As if on cue, tiny little snowflakes started floating gently to the ground around me as I trotted through the snow, which was surprisingly not that deep. Probably because I was walking around as a big giant wolf instead of a human.

I stopped at the edge of the border, feeling an odd sense of nostalgia. It seemed as if all I could think about was Gabby lately. I wasn't sure if I was ready to give up hope. I was going to stop phasing after New Years'—my New Year's resolution: to raise a family and be the best father I could be for my little Gabriella. I already knew the pack would be fine without me. Jared would be appointed as the new leader, seeing as he was my second-in-command, and Paul would be his second. I briefly wondered if any more kids would be phasing and I figured that was a stupid question. As long as vampires kept coming to Forks and La Push, Washington, someone would always be phasing to stop them.

I looked up at the moon and the little bits of stars that peeked out from behind the dark snow clouds, and prepared to turn back when I heard the soft sound of someone sniffling. I froze and turned around, locking my keen eyes onto a particularly thick group of pine trees and spiny bushes that had been stripped of their leaves. I poked my head through the thick brush, trying to get a good look at whatever was in the clearing behind it, and the biggest feeling of déjà vu hit me like a bloodsucker on a mission.

In the middle of the clearing, next to a big boulder, sat a girl no older than sixteen. Her head was hidden behind her knees, which were pulled up almost to her chest, so I couldn't see her face. She was lean, but not unhealthily thin, with slightly tanned skin, and she had a head of short, messy, brown hair. Her whole body shook slightly as she cried quietly into her arms. She was only wearing tennis shoes, short shorts, and a maroon tank-top. I shivered, just looking at her.

I made a whimpering noise and her head shot up. My eyes widened when my dark orbs were met with big brown eyes and the face of an angel looked up at me. My jaw dropped a little bit and I stared at the girl before me. She hastily sucked in her breath and instinctively backed away and into the boulder. Surprisingly her eyes showed no obvious signs of fear. Just…wariness. I stood, still as the snow, and stared at her.

Where have I seen her before?

She shakily stood up and held onto the boulder for support, never taking her eyes off of me or making any sudden movements. Her big brown eyes were intense, as if they were looking into my very soul. She looked just as confused as I felt. She leaned in closer towards me.

"Where…where have I seen you before?" She suddenly asked me, in a slightly deep voice that seemed to calm my soul with familiarity. Who was she? Where did she see me before?

"I know you…" She continued, slowly stepping away from the boulder and inching towards me. Her brows furrowed in confusion and only continued to further do so. I did not move from my spot, but I made no move to leave either. She was now only a couple feet from me now.

"C-can you help me? I got lost in the woods and…well, I'm freezing to death." She said.

"Please…can you help me?"

I disappeared in an instant. I became invisible amongst the thick trees and the snow and I phased into a human. I quickly made my way back to the clearing and she looked at me in surprise as I reappeared from the forest. She was still staring in the direction I had vanished in my wolf form and she looked at me in surprise.

"Who—"

"I'm Sam Uley. I heard your crying and I thought I'd see what it was." I hastily told her. She stared, wide-eyed at me, and looked between from where me in wolf form went and where I was standing now.

"Is there something wrong?" I hesitantly asked her. She blinked at me.

"No. I just…nevermind. Can you please get me out of here, I sort of got lost? I was looking for my friend's pet cat and I kind of got lost out here."

"Sure but why are you dressed like it's July?" I asked her.

"Do I look like I was expecting to go outside in the cold at all today?" She said to me, looking a little annoyed. I laughed. She had her arms wrapped around her and she shivered in the snow. If I didn't move fast, she was going to get some serious frostbite. I laughed at her.

"Good point. Here let me carry you, you'll freeze to death if I make you walk the whole way."

As I carried her back to our house, I found her to be highly amusing. She was a joker, always looking on the bright side of things, but she was sarcastic too. She vaguely reminded me of a certain someone I knew was waiting at home for the Christmas/retirement party to begin. As I carried her bridal-style through the forest, she leaned as much against me as she could, completely eating up all of the warmth that emitted off of me.

"You're hot." She said.

"I'm married." I replied. She laughed and hit my chest. It didn't hurt, but I feigned pain anyway.

"So what's your name anyway?" I asked her after a moment of silence.

"It's Gabriella but all my friends call me Gabby, so you had better call me that too or else I'm going to have to shove my frozen foot down your throat." She said.

"Ooh quite the temper you have."

"You bet. Not sure which parent I got it from though. I guess neither of them, seeing as I'm adopted and everything."

"You're adopted?" I asked.

"Yeah. They found me on their doorstep in Italy but apparently I was born in the U.S. No idea how I got there, though."

"No idea at all?"

"Believe me. If I had any idea why, you probably wouldn't believe me anyway." This girl was definitely a strange one, among other things.

"Well it's pretty odd that you're spending Christmas at a friend's house instead of with your family." I said.

"Oh no, I am spending it with my family. My friend is my cousin, Angela Weber. Maybe you've heard of her? My Dad is her Uncle and we're visiting them for the holidays. We just moved to America a couple months ago. We were thinking of moving to Forks, but I'm not so sure about that. I hear a lot of weird things happen around that place." She said. I had to chuckle a bit at that last statement.

"Better there than here in La Push. It's no use living here if you get lost all the time." I laughed when she punched me again and I was relieved to see the front door of Emily and I's adorable little house. I somehow maneuvered her and myself through the door and kicked it shut behind me. I set her down on the ground and if I didn't know any better, I'd swear she was melting from the warmth.

"Oh god it feels wonderful in here! Mmm what's that smell?" She asked, a blissful look appearing on her face.

"That would be my wife's cooking." I told her, grinning broadly. Emily's skills never ceased to amaze me. We kicked off our shoes and Gabby followed me into the kitchen, where Emily was busying herself with the food while keeping our daughter Gabriella preoccupied at the same time. I swooped in behind her and gave her a kiss on the cheek before moving to my daughter, who grinned up at me and proceeded to try and strangle me as I picked her up.

"Daddy!" She cheered and I tossed her up in my arms.

"Hi how you doing there?" She giggled and I set her down on the ground. She left and scampered off into the living room. Emily turned around and gasped when she saw Gabby standing awkwardly in the dining room, shivering slightly.

"Oh my who is that? Oh you look like death itself—here let me get you some warm towels." As soon as she'd turned around, she was gone in a flash, and back in the next instant with a bunch of towels which she had just plucked out of the dryer.

"Thank you. You know, you're very pretty." Gabby giggled and Emily smiled at her. It was funny how motherly Emily was being.

"Emily this is Gabby. She got lost out in the forest and she needs a place to stay until we can contact her parents." I informed her. She looked sympathetic.

"I'm sorry but the phone lines went down. Apparently the storm outside has turned out to be quite the blizzard. You came in just in time. I don't think we'll be able to contact anybody until it's over—tomorrow at the earliest." She said. Gabby looked crestfallen. I felt bad. Now she had to spend Christmas with a bunch of strangers.

"I'm sorry Gabby. I promise, we'll call your family as soon as the phone gets back on. You're welcome to stay here until then." Her smile brightened.

"Thank you. I can't thank you enough for helping me out there. I don't know what I would have done if I had gotten caught in the blizzard." She said.

"Would you like to help me baste the turkey?" Emily asked and Gabby quickly agreed. I hung around in the kitchen for awhile, letting the peaceful mood set in, and watched as Gabby helped Emily made dinner. There was still something different about her…something that put me on edge. I felt like I was missing something about her, something big. She looked so familiar…maybe it was just a coincidence but she looked a lot like—

"Emily are there wolves in La Push?" Gabby suddenly asked. I quickly looked at Emily and she calmly turned around.

"Yes, they're very common. Did you see one in the woods?" She asked.

"Yeah, except it was really big…and huge." Emily pretended to look surprised.

"I've never seen one quite like that before."

"I saw a wolf like that once." Gabby suddenly piped up, as if remembering something. "It was a long time ago, a couple years I think. I don't know where, exactly, I saw it but I do remember it let me pet it once. It was big and silver, the most beautiful wolf I had ever seen." She said. Emily stared at her for a long time, watching her with such a series expression that I wondered what she could possibly be thinking.

"Where did you say you were from again?"

"Oh, I'm from Italy—well, I was born in the U. S. but somehow my parents ended up finding me in Italy. Pretty weird, huh? It's like a big piece of my past is missing. I wonder if I will ever find out how that happened." She mused. Emily then looked at me seriously and asked me if I could talk to her in another room. I followed her up to our bedroom, wearing a confused expression, and Emily shut the door behind her.

"Sam…you don't think she could be—"

"I don't know. They do look a lot alike."

"Is it even possible for such a coincidence to happen? What are the odds that she came here from Italy?"

"Lots of children come here from different countries. If you think about it its' not that surprising."

"Yeah, but she said she was born here in the U.S.! She also said she remembered seeing a wolf; a silver wolf." Paul, I thought. Was it possible that this strange girl I found in the woods was the Gabby we had all been waiting for, for ten years?

"There's only one way we can know for sure."

We headed back downstairs and Emily greeted Gabby with a blinding smile.

"Gabby, dear, do you think you could go and let everybody know dinner's finally ready? I dare say this is the best turkey I've ever seen!" She asked. Gabby nodded, smiling, and I lead her to where the living room was.

Everyone was there. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone in the La Push and Forks areas that knew about our secret. Leah, Seth, and Issac were sitting on the couch. Issac sat close to Leah and they were holding hands (still hard to get used to that), while Seth looked ready to barf. In one small corner of the room, Esme Cullen and Sue Clearwater gossiped and giggled to each other, probably talking about their husbands knowing women, while Carlisle chatted with Edward and the rest of the Cullen's in the other. They all looked a little tense, but they seemed calm and relaxed. Jared and Kim chit-chatted in another corner, sometimes making random jokes about the other guests. Jake and Renesmee sat on the love seat in front of the TV and huddled close together, listening to some of Jake's music. Collin must have found some way to convince Brady into playing a video game with him and they both sat on the floor in front of the TV (Brady was losing horribly—no surprise there), yelling and screaming at each other whilst racing expensive sports cars across the screen and trying not to break the controls in the process. Charlie and Billy hung out next to the entrance of the living room, each sharing a beer and munching on a slice of pizza. They laughed a joke Billy had made. I spotted Gabriella sitting on the floor, next to Quil and Claire who looked to be deep in conversation, looking bored. All seemed well, except the person I was looking the most for was nowhere in sight.

Wait, there he was. Paul sat on the far side of the room, sitting in my favorite recliner with a blank look on his face. I felt sorry for him. That seemed to be all he did these days, sit and stare at nothing. He never yelled, hardly even talked, didn't get into fights with anyone anymore, he never complained about anything and he never asked for anything unless he really needed it. He had turned into an empty shell. He was nothing like what he used to be. It was depressing to watch him sit and wait for Gabby's return.

Oh that's right, Gabby. I turned and looked at the girl who was trying to squeeze past me and I instantly lifted my arm to let her through. My mistake. Apparently she had been putting some serious force behind her pushing and as soon as I lifted my arm, all of her supports disappeared and she toppled into the living room, face-first.

Definitely not what I would call a grand entrance. All heads turned to look at her.

"Huh? Who's that?" Brady asked, looking away from the game, which had been paused. Gabby's face popped up from being attached to the carpet.

"Hello!"

"Everyone this is Gabby. I found her out in a blizzard and she's going to have to stay with Emily and I for the night." I announced. Everyone looked at her in surprise and some people's mouths even dropped open.

"Is that…is that who I think it is?" Leah said from her spot on the couch. Claire stared at her in shock.

Even Jake's jaw had dropped a couple of inches.

"G-Gabber-mouth?!"

Gabby looked up at them in confusion and then her brown eyes snapped to Paul, who was slowly standing up. Their eyes met, and it was as if everyone was holding their breath. A dead silence entered the room. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned to see Emily looked expectantly up at me. I nodded my head at Paul and we all waited in anticipation for whatever was going to happen next.

Gabby's facial expressions were unexplainable. They went from confusion, to surprise, to wonder, a mix of all those, and many other expressions I cannot describe. She slowly stood up off of the ground, never breaking eye contact with Paul, and they stepped a little closer to each other until they were only a couple feet away from each other. Suddenly an expression I recognized appeared: realization. It was as if her entire childhood had flashed before her eyes.

It had to be her. It had to be.

Just then the most un-Gabby like expression appeared on her pretty face and then the most unexpected thing happened.

She slapped him. Hard.

Everyone winced, Emily gasped in shock, and all of the pack members jumped up, ready for Paul to explode. He glared at her, more in annoyance than in hot rage.

"What the hell was that for?!" He snapped.

"You know damn well what that was for!" She replied with just as much anger. This girl sure had a temper.

"How the hell am I supposed to know what you're thinking? What did you slap me for?" Paul demanded. To all of our complete shock, she started crying.

"WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME THERE? WHY DIDN'T YOU TAKE ME WITH YOU! WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME IN ITALY!?" She screamed and hugged him around his chest with all of her might. Realization spread across his face and he wrapped his arms around her and held her against him. Big fat tears rolled down her cheeks and her pretty brown eyes looked liquefied.

"Why...? Why did you do it?" She whispered into his neck.

"I had no choice. That bloodsucker sister of yours, she—she snapped your neck. I was the one that destroyed her. I watched you die…there was nothing I could do about it. Then a random bloodsucker came and saved your life, can you believe it? A vampire saved your life. I had to promise I would let you go and be raised by a normal human family or else…he wouldn't help you. I'm so sorry Gabby, I'm so sorry…" Paul was crying softly into her hair. Paul; Paul the "I'm going to tear you to shreds and make you eat your own balls" Paul, was crying. If the argument earlier didn't prove that she was definitely his imprint, then this certainly did.

How small could this world get? Maybe fate had something to do with it, maybe not.

They stayed like that for awhile, Paul whispering his apologies into her ear and her just simply crying into his chest. It was all very touching and all, but suddenly thick black smoke was erupting from behind Emily and I. We turned around and realized that pretty much half of the kitchen was on fire. I panicked, my first concern being getting everybody out of the house, but I couldn't help but notice how there was a torched dishcloth that was hanging ominously close to the oven.

Once everyone was out, we tried our best to put out the fire but the damage was done. Almost half the house had been engulfed in flames; most of the kitchen and dining room were totally lost in charcoal and ashes. Shaking with rage, for a reason nobody knew why, I looked at Emily's worried face and asked in the nicest voice possible, trying to control my anger:

"Who was the last person to do the dishes?" Emily blinked in confusion at me.

"Paul. Why?"

I sharply sucked in my breath, turned towards Paul who was looking at me guiltily, as if he had a vague idea of why I was angry at him. I released my breath.

"PAUL WHY THE FREAKING HELL DO YOU ALWAYS TRY AND DESTROY MY HOUSE?! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU IN FRONT OF YOUR IMPRINT, AND THEN I'M GOING TO GET THAT VAMPIRE TO BRING YOU BACK TO LIFE, AND THEM I'M GOING TO KILL YOU AGAIN!"

Paul was already in wolf form and dashing away into the forest, not caring that Gabby, Issac or Charlie saw. Besides, they already knew about what we were anyway. It wouldn't hurt to transform in front of them and proceed to go and kick Paul's ass. I phased and darted after him, leaving Emily to have to deal with the firefighters that were coming. Great, now they were going to have to stand outside in a blizzard, hungry, and freeze to death.

Some Christmas this turned out to be.

Without you, there's no reason for my story

No One's POV

Claire ran up to Gabby and proceeded to choke her as she squealed and hugged her to death.

"Gabby I'm so glad you came back! I thought for sure I would never see you again!" She said. Jacob came out of nowhere and slapped her on the back.

"Hey Gabber-mouth, how's it been?"

"Gabbers!" Leah suddenly pounced on all of them, bringing them tumbling to the ground, each of them getting their fair share of snow underneath their clothes.

"Leah!" They all spluttered. They all stood up and gave each other a slushy, wet and cold, hug. After a couple of moments, they broke apart. The three smiling people Gabby knew were her friends looked at her in curiosity.

"Gabby do you remember who we are?" Claire asked. The teenaged girl smiled brightly.

"Of course I do! I remember everything, I've always had! I just never believed it was all real! You're my best friend Claire—and you're that boy who was looking for love, Jacob—and you're the one who found love, right Leah?" She said, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively in Issac's direction. Leah giggled and gently punched her in the shoulder.

"Shut up!"

"It's so nice to see you all again! I've missed you all so much!"

"Wait, what about that part of your childhood you couldn't remember?" Emily suddenly asked, jumping into their conversation.

"I remember everything; I was just never sure about what was real and what wasn't. The couple that found me on their doorstep had no idea what I was talking about when I started asking for 'Paw.'" She said. She paused for a second.

"Where is Paul, anyway?"

On cue, a boy in cut-off jeans suddenly burst into the clearing and skidded to a stop next to Gabby. She was pleasantly surprised to see it was the person she had just been looking for.

"Oh, there you are. I was afraid I was going to have to dig through the ashes to find you." She said. He walked up to her and grabbed her hand and pulled her closer. She giggled.

"You know there is still a lot I don't know about you, despite all that we've been through together." She told him. "You might as well be a stranger who just announced his love for me."

Paul stared intently at her. "I never said anything about loving you."

"Well then you are obviously the worst liar in the entire world. Just because you didn't say anything doesn't mean I don't notice the connection we have with each other. I can't explain it and I know it sounds like I'm jumping the gun a little, but for some reason I want to kiss you." She said. Her grin was enough to melt his heart, despite being half-naked and in a blizzard.

"What's stopping you?"

"…Nothing, I suppose."

They leaned in towards each other and their lips were just about to touch when a snowball came out of nowhere and hit Paul directly in the face. They pulled away from each other—Paul sputtering, Gabby laughing—and he turned his accusing gaze on Jacob who was whistling a toneless tune a couple of feet away. He growled, his whole form shaking slightly, and took a step in Jacob's direction when another snowball hit him in the face. He froze and turned his gaze on Leah who was shamelessly laughing at his angry expression. He was seriously considering phasing and attacking both of them but then he looked at Gabby and saw she was laughing at him as well. He grumbled and bet over, gather up some snow and turning it into a snowball. He quickly picked one of the two targets to be his first victim and he instantly launched the snowball at Leah. It hit her square in the face.

If looks could kill, he would be dead five times over.

"OH IT IS ON!" She shouted. Paul dodged one of her snowballs that careened toward him like a missle.

"Bring it on, you obnoxious hag!" Paul jeered, throwing another snowball.

"At least I don't go around kissing little girls!" She sneered, dodging it.

"She's not a little girl, she's my imprint!" Paul snapped, ducking to avoid one of her snowballs.

"Do you know how old you actually are Paul? You could probably be old enough to be her father!" Leah taunted him, enjoying every moment of it.

"OKAY NO MORE MISTER NICE GUY!"

The whole time Jacob and Gabby were laughing hysterically at them. She had no idea why, but Paul's temper just seemed to make her laugh. She wasn't the least bit afraid of him, or the fact that she had almost kissed a guy that looked to be a couple years older than her. Oh well. Liking older men just meant that they were more mature.

A random snowball flew into her face. Leah and Paul froze, looking at her in surprise. She glared at them with hooded eyes.

Maybe not.

With a barrage of snowballs of her own, Jacob and Gabby joined the fight and soon everyone else got involved in the fight, including the Cullen's.

You and I
We've never felt so right
That just might be just what I need (to get me through the night)
You and I
We're the perfect fit you've got me hooked
So then I could never quit, I just burn away

Emily looked up to see Sam walking towards her. He wrapped his arm around her and watched the snowball fight escalate into an all out war.

"I see there aren't any scratches on Paul. Let him off easy, did we?" Emily smiled at him. He scowled. He was definitely getting soft. She went up on her tip-toes and kissed him on the cheek.

"Happy retirement." He chuckled and hugged her closely, watching contentedly as Gabriella joined the fight. The little girl bumped into Gabby and she turned around and smiled at her.

"Well hello there! What's your name?" Gabby asked the small child.

"Gabriella." The tiny girl said shyly and tried to hide in Jacob's arms. He laughed.

"Gabby this is Sam and Emily's daughter. They wanted to name her after you since you were originally supposed to be their daughter." He informed her. Gabby suddenly fell silent as she stared at the little girl in Jacob's arms.

"I've been gone a long time, haven't I?" Gabby mumbled. Jacob smiled gently at her.

"Ten years is a long time. We're all really happy to have you back." He honestly told her.

"Will things ever be the same?" She asked quietly. His smile broadened at her.

"Well if Sam finding you out in a blizzard, Paul burning down Sam and Emily's house, and all of us having a snowball fight within minutes being outside doesn't feel like old times, then I'm not really sure if I can answer that." Gabby's smile was blinding and she grinned at him so widely it looked like it hurt.

"That's true."

Suddenly a thought struck her as she looked over to where Sam and Emily were standing and she started running in their direction. She gracefully dodged fast-paced flying snowballs, even ones coming from the vampires, and she made her way over to them with ease. She didn't stop, however, in front of them. Instead she careened herself into Sam's chest, wrapping her arms around his waist and squeezing him tight. He was shocked, to say the least, and they both looked at him in surprise. Before either of them could say something, Gabby looked at them with shining brown eyes. She looked close to tears but she was smiling happily at them.

"Thank you, Sam. You too, Emily. Thank you for…everything." She said. Finally the tears spilled over and she buried herself into Sam's chest. He stood in shock, surprised at the gratitude she had heard behind her words, and then wrapped his arms around her. Emily smiled, even with her scarred face she looked absolutely beautiful in the snow. She gently rubbed Gabby's back as she sobbed happily into Sam's chest.

"You're welcome, sweetheart." Was all she said. Finally Gabby loosened her grip on him and pulled back to smile up at them. Sam smiled back down at her.

"About that house in Forks, I don't think that's such a bad idea. I'd force you to live on the reservation with us, but I don't think you've got any Indian in you." He said. She laughed a big loud belly laugh.

"I'm going to have to agree with you on that one."

"So do you think you're here to stay? I don't think Paul can take waiting much longer for you to be with him and personally neither can I. He's becoming quite the thorn in my side." Gabby turned and looked at the people around her.

Leah laughed as she jumped on Issac's back and he carried her across the lawn, hopelessly trying to dodge the snowballs flying around them but to no avail. Collin and Brady simultaneously threw a snowball at each other from opposite sides of the lawn and they both nailed each other in the face. Jacob chased Renesmee and Gabriella around the yard with a couple snowballs of his own while the Cullen's were having a serious show-down, or should I say snow-down, with Seth, Jared, and Kim. Snowballs darted across the yard from both sides at such intense speeds, it was hard to see which way each snowball was coming from. Sue, Billy, and Charlie were laughing nearby, enjoying the show and chatting about old times. Her gaze finally landed on Paul, who was crouched next to Collin, and he launched a snowball straight at Leah, which she somehow managed to dodge on top of Issac's back. He dodged someone's snowball and turned and locked eyes with Gabby. They held each other's gaze for a long moment. The love he reserved only for her poured out of his deep chocolate eyes and, as if his love were a snowball, threw it at her and hit her right in the soul. She smiled queasily at him and he grinned back, only to have to turn away so he could doge one of Brady's fast snowballs flying at him. She turned and looked back at Sam.

"I don't think that's going to be a problem. I have a feeling I'm going to be staying here for a very long time." She said, her eyes still watery from when she was crying before.

"That's good. I'd recommend a map, though, or a compass. I don't think any of us would appreciate losing you again."

"I don't think that would be an issue, seeing as you guys can turn into giant werewolves and just sniff me out." He smiled at her and watched as she turned and dashed back into the fight, finding a spot between Paul and Collin. Paul looked thrilled to see her.

Emily grabbed his hand and put her head on his shoulder.

"This has been some year, huh?" He kissed her on the lips.

"Merry Christmas, Emily."

He too, had a very strong feeling that Gabby would be staying with them for a very long time. Even though she'd assured him that they would be able to find her in their werewolf forms if she ever were to actually get lost in the woods—again—he wasn't totally convinced. She sure did have a bad habit of getting into trouble without even trying. He thought about the first time he met her. A small, shivering child that had been wearing dirty clothes and although her hair had desperately needed combing and a bath was exactly what the doctor ordered, her big brown eyes hadn't changed one bit. Even now she looked positively beautiful as she pranced around in the snow with everyone else. They had ceased their game for it had started snowing again. Sam heard sirens in the far distance and knew it would only be a matter of time before the fire trucks reached their house. Then maybe they could find someplace warm to stay. Stupid Paul and his clumsiness. He watched in amusement as Paul and Gabby held each other's hands in the middle of all the excitement and stole a sweet kiss in the winter wonderland. Their smiles seemed to grow wider and happier than ever before.

Now Sam knew what Gabby really meant when she told him they would be able to find her. No matter where she went, she would always be with them and be a part of them, whether some of them knew it or not. She may not have been a werewolf or an actual pack member, but she was just as important to them as any of the other's own imprints. For years to come, long after their joyful and happy reunion, she would be by their side and always watch over them, even when they thought they were the ones watching her. She would one day grown into a beautiful woman and become Paul's wife, soon after the mother of his children, and eventually a caring grandmother. No matter how many years would pass, to Sam he would always remember her as the tiny girl he had found in the forest one day.

She would always be known as the lost girl who was finally found.

Without you, there's no reason for my story
And when I'm with you I can always act the same
Forever, yeah if we're together
We can make it better
