Okay my first Fic in a while. This is my first Naruto one and I hope you enjoy!

On the Run

Running for hours from a team of high ranking jounin was the wayward shinobi Kakuzu. He had been living in the village he now ran from for many years, and every day he watched as people pulled away from his gaze and features in shock and disgust.

He made an attempt to quell their fears by wearing a mask and hiding his arms from their view, but still they feared him. He even made a living as a bounty hunter. Yet it came in the midst of their harsh glares and venomous words. They sought refuge in the idea of his death; so now he ran for his life.

The jounin were rapidly gaining, there was no other option now but to attack. He turned, sending a shower of kunai at the eight advancing ninja. There were at least seven that dodged; one, however, jumped straight into the falling weapons and fell to the ground with blood spurting from his slashed throat.

The other jounin did not hesitate. They returned fire with kunai and shuriken of their own. Kakuzu dodged easily and jumped up into a large tree, setting paper bombs along its trunk.

The ninja jumped up after him, assuming the chase and received a nice surprise as black cords grabbed them and slammed them into the tree. One of the six shouted but was drowned out as the paper bombs exploded. Another two of the ninja fell to the ground, one died as his spine snapped from the force the impact. His friend was dead before he even touched the soil.

The remaining four were stunned as the black and green eyed man jumped from the top of the tree, his eyes gleaming with amusement

"I'm going to let you live… follow me and you'll soon meet your demise sooner than expected."

He jumped from the limb and to another one and repeated this action for quite some time before he stopped to see if the jounin had followed him. 'They're probably going to regroup. But I'll be ready for them.'

He knew it would be some time before they came back to challenge him again, but it was best to be prepared all the same. So the ninja continued to run forwards and thought of any place he could stay until that time. Little did he know that opportunity was about to come knocking on his doorstep.
