He wasn't quite sure why he picked her. Maybe because she reminded him so much of Yuna. He stole a glance at his newest summoner, Tiaz. She had the same strength, the same resolve as both Yuna and Braska. She would go all the way.
"Something wrong Lord Auron?" Tiaz had caught him staring.
"We rest at the next station." I replied. Lord Auron. A name shared only with high summoners, given only because he had survived two final encounters with sin. Summoners would have gladly given their best aeon to claim him as theirs. Many asked. Some strong, others smart, and Some simply looking to fulfill a purpose. All had the capability of defeating sin. Few had the resolve. This is why he'd chose Tiaz.
"Lord Auron," a different voice called, "Why are we stopping so soon? The sun has just set."
"Because this is the last rest station on this Journey. There are no more." Auron stared hard at Shilo, the only other guardian. Young, but strong. Very skilled with a sword, and Tiaz's younger sister. "Tiaz must be strong. It is important that she rest."
"Yes Lord Auron." She said meekly.
He felt the albehd's hateful glance on him as soon as they entered.
"We need two rooms." I said returning his gaze.
"Dra Taydr Sylrah!" he said, his eyes narrowing. "We have only one room."
"Fine." I said curtly.
"You sleep in chocobo stable." He said, pointing outside. "You leave Taydr Sylrah."
Without a word I walked away. Shilo would guard Tiaz if they tried anything. I sat outside, the stars illuminating my jug. It was bigger than last time, but then again, I had a bigger burden to carry. I sensed Tidus' cry as he slowly lost himself through destruction. I took another gulp.
Voices in albehd assaulted my ears. They were talking about me. Dra Taydr Syhlrah. The Death Marcher. As if I had tied Yuna and Braska up and forced them to Zanerkin, as if Tiaz was a summoner because of me. Another gulp. I'd racked my brain looking for a way to abolish sin forever.
Tiaz and Shilo were doing the same. Tidus' idea again surfaced in my mind. Could that really be the answer? If so, tidus would die by his own words. I knew he hoped he would. Tiaz was the most promising to go with the plan. I knew she was the one. She would forever save Spira. She would live to see her own calm, and maybe she'd be the one to give me redemption from my failures.
