Just Keep Smiling

Every since she was a little baby, Tammy was always so happy and cheerful. Always the sweet one. She was always smiling, not a care in the world. She had no reason not to be happy. She had a kind, loving mother and a strong, protective father who would do anything for his little princess. She was also on Baltimore's most popular television show, The Corny Collins Show. She loved the people she worked with and went to school with. She loved dancing and singing. Everyone loved her, even Amber, who never got along with anyone. Tammy was a very pretty girl, but when she smiled, she was gorgeous. Her friends and family gave her the nickname Smiley. Everyone always wondered why she was always so happy, always smiling. They admired her for her sweet personality. She had her dear mother to thank for that. When she was little, her mother always told her, "Tammy, sweetie, you can light up any room with that pretty smile of yours. Just seeing you happy makes me happy." Tammy loved her mother dearly. She would do anything for her mother, anything to make her happy. Making her mother happy made Tammy happy. Then when she was ten, Tammy's poor mother got sick with cancer and died a year later. Of course Tammy was sad. She was depressed for about a year. She stopped smiling. She could hardly sleep or eat. Her father worried about his little princess. One night he went into her room and held her, letting her have a good cry on his shoulder. "Now,Smiley..", he said. "You know your mother wouldn't want to see you like this. She and I always liked to see you happy and smiling. If you were happy, we were happy. She wouldn't want to see you so depressed, or else she would be upset. You wouldn't want her upset in heaven, now would you?" "No,daddy.", she said. "Good. Whenever you feel sad, always remember what your mother told you before she died." "Yes,daddy.", she said, smiling once again. A smile formed across her father's face. "That's my little princess.",he said hugging her. As the years passed and Tammy got older, she would never forget the words her mother said to her on her death bed. "Tammy, sweetie,no matter what happens to me,I want you to promise me one thing. No matter what you are going through, I want you to always smile and be happy. Live life to the fullest. Don't let anyone take your happiness away from you. Life is too precious and too short to be miserable and depressed. Remember that I will always be with you and me seeing you happy makes me happy." And so Tammy smiled, never forgetting those special words that came from her mother's heard. To this day,Tammy is still just has happy as she was when she was younger, now knowing that life is too precious and too short to be angry or depressed.
