The song that popped into my player that inspired this is "Waiting For A Star to Fall" by Boy Meets Girl. It's an 80s has-been band (yes, I am that old). I've written the lyrics below.

Trying to Catch a Star

Sharpay always loved watching shooting stars. When she was a child, she used to lie down on the soft grass of the well-tended Lava Springs golf course in anticipation of those tiny pin pricks of light that grazed the sky. And when one did pass the path of her eyesight, she would wish very hard until it faded.

There was something fulfilling about catching a shooting star and holding its gaze long enough to wish. It was because it was such a challenge. And Sharpay always loved a challenge.

So when the ultimate challenge came her way, she set her sights on it.

Troy Bolton. The shinning super star of East High. Beloved and envied by all.

She will lie in wait patiently like she used to on those long nights. She would do all that it takes to pull him to her. Because no matter how long, she knew he would be hers someday.
