As Glinda Listened...

Lynnie

As Glinda listened to the crowd, she couldn't help but tremble. She did NOT want to be celebrating with them. She did NOT want to reassure them. She did NOT once say her name.

As Glinda listened to the crowd, she was able to make herself, for a short time, believe they were not talking abvout her. She wasn't alone. She wasn't wicked or evil in any way. She was mourned.

As Glinda listen to the crowd, she had to take herself back through the time they shared. She saw clearly the Love Fiyero had for her. She should have seen it then. She saw how much she wanted to be accepted and care for. She saw how much both of them just wanted to be themselves.

As Glinda listened to the crowd, she closed her eyes and realized something shocking inside her. She didn't feel her death melt over her as she had at first. Was it shock? Was it wishful thinking? Was it a final game she was playing? No. She didn't pay games. With a sigh, Glinda opened her eyes reluctantly.

As Glinda listened to the crowd, she had her bubble float her back to Kiamo Ko. She needed to be near her one last time. She would make sure the palace was taken care of. Chistery would slowly become the full caretaker. Glinda bent down to where she would have been. She felt a crack a little more than the rest. Gripping it, she lifted. Inside the secret passage lay a glittering black rose intertwined with pink Baby's Breath and green fern leaves.

As Glinda listened to the crowd, it was a distant mumbling in her head. "Oh, Elphie..." her heart whispered over everything.
