AN: Yes, I know. Real life is killing my update schedule.

Once more, the ground began to reassemble itself, this time in what appeared to be a New York City slum.

A surprisingly, almost disturbingly empty slum.

"Would it kill you to be consistent?" Irma yelled at the sky as she fell on her bum. "Would it really?"

Unsurprisingly, there was silence. Too silent really. It was actually somewhat unsettling.

She looked around. The city around her was dull and dirty, with a strong smell of decay mixed in and far too quiet. Surely she should be hearing traffic or seeing people walking the streets or...well anything really.

It looked more like the set of a zombie film then the real New York actually. She half expected to see an army of zombies come around the corner.

"Right," she said with a slight growl. "Time to get out of this dump!"

She jumped into the air and skinned her knees as she hit the ground.

"Oh. Right," she said, rolling her eyes. She looked around her and gritted her teeth, before shaking her head.

"Hay Lin!" she shouted. Silence greeted her and she looked around her once more.

"Corny? Will? Taranee? Where are you guys?"

A sliver of unease slid down her back. Where was everybody? Her friends, the people she had managed to (somehow) save the world with. Where had they gone?

"Guys, this isn't funny," she shouted. "Come on, my jokes aren't that bad!"

All that she could hear was silence. Not even the sounds of plumbing or rats or anything really. Just a lonely, eerie silence.

"Great," she grumbled under her breath. "I'm an extra in a zombie flick."

There was a sudden roar and suddenly hundreds of tons of water came crashing through the streets. A giant wave that towered far above her.

It was fast and big and rushing towards her dangerously fast. Turning on her heel, she ran.

WITCHWITCHWITCHWITCHWITCHWITCHWITCHWITCH

The first thing Taranee noticed was the heat.

Overwhelming, incredible heat that was sucking the air out of her surroundings. She opened her eyes.

All around her, a building burned. White hot flames licked greedily at the structure around her, scorching the building and turning the frame black. (Taranee found herself wondering how the fire managed to burn so hot. Most normal fires were not normally this hot.)

A burning rafter fell from the ceiling and bounced off her shoulder. Taranee let out a scream of pain and fear, leaping away from the still burning rafter.

She stared at the rafter as it lay on the ground

The fire might be too hot for what it was supposed to be, but the danger was clearly real. Her skin was burnt and she began coughing. She waved her hand at the flames to no avail and sighed. She really hadn't expected it to work, but it was worth a try.

Still coughing, she stumbled towards what she thought (or at least hoped) was a doorway. Maybe even a fire exit if she was lucky. (She very much doubted that, but it seemed worth a try.)

Another rafter fell, suddenly blocking her off from the doorway and Taranee let out a scream of rage.

"What the hell are you doing here?" she screamed at the building. "Where are my friends? Where am I?"

The building continued to burn and Taranee backed away from the newly fallen rafter. Incredibly, the building was still burning around her. Even the parts of the building that should have burned through remained burning. It would have been interesting in any other situation. It would have made a superb photo even. But as of now, she needed to get out of here!

She had another fit of coughing and stumbled backwards and promptly fell through the wall behind her.

"What the…?" she asked in a puzzled voice. She stared at the gap where the wall had just been. Surely the wall hadn't been that weakened by the impossible fire?

A heavy beam came crashing down from the ceiling, almost crushing her in the process and Taranee rolled out of the way. She didn't appear to have any time to ponder thoses mysteries, she needed to find a way out.

Looking around, she soon realised that there were no windows of and kind and a single solitary doorframe. Or at least she hoped it was a doorframe. It was hard to tell. Regardless, she didn't think she had any other choice. Rescue was unlikely and unless she somehow regained her powers, she needed to get out!

Cornelia slammed into the ground hard and lay there winded for a few moments. All around her, she could hear the sounds of a living, breathing forest as sunshine shone through the trees.

After a few moments, she sat up and with a distainful sigh, brushed some leaves out of her hair.

"Urgh," she grumbled under her breath. "I hate having to clean out my hair."

"Cornelia"

Cornelia's head whipped around as an etheral, floaty voice echoed through the trees. She frowned.

"Hello? Is anyone there?" she asked.

"Corneeeeliiiia," the voice said once more, this time stretching out her name. "I'm right here Cornelia."

Cornelia glared at the trees.

"Stop playing around!" she shouted, feeling somewhat annoyed. "Where are you and where are my friends?"

"Friends? They're not your friends," the voice said mockingly. "I'm your only friend."

"Liar!" Cornelia screamed at the trees. The voice just laughed and suddenly a vine wrapped itself around Cornelia's neck.

"That wasn't very nice now, was it Cornelia?" the voice taunted as it began to strangle her. "You should be nicer to your friends."

Cornelia grabbed the vine and pulled it off off of her and fell to the ground, gasping for air.

"Aren't I nice Cornelia?" the voice said in an almost mocking tone.

"What!?"

"I could have just killed you there and then. Just snapped your neck like you've done for so many others," more vines began crawling towards her and Cornelia began backing away as fast as she could. "Do you want to play again? I know that I do."

"Get away from me you freak!" Cornelia shrieked, batting away the approaching vines with her hand.

"Freak? Your girlfriend could rearrange reality. Your new crush can control machines with a word and shoot electricity from her fingertips. Your friends can read minds and crush steel and you're an enhanced assassin. Think about it."

"Don't you DARE mention them!" Cornelia snapped angrily.

"Why not? You know that you have more in common with me than you would ever have with them?"

"I don't even know who you are!" Cornelia yelled.

"Guess," the voice said with a mocking laugh. "But let's play a game first. How about catch?

Suddenly the vines sat up and began rushing towards her and Cornelia ran.

WITCHWITCHWITCHWITCHWITCHWITCHWITCHWITCH

She was falling.

Well not falling exactly. Gliding through winds that would rip a normal human apart might be more appropriate. She certainly couldn't see any ground or anything below her. With a smile, Hay Lin pulled herself apart into a puff of smoke.

Or at least she tried to.

She frowned slightly. It was an odd experience being stuck in a solid form and not able to become air at will. Indeed, her default state was supposed to be in a gaseous. It was normally more work to stay solid than it was to just disappate.

The wind continued to blow and Hay Lin shrugged and stuck her arms out.

"Wheee!" she exclaimed as she let the wind blow it's way around her, messsing up her hair and letting the wind blow in her face. If she was stuck in solid form, she decided, she may as well enjoy herself.

Suddenly something hard caught her on the shoulder and she let out a cry of pain. Rubbing her shoulder, she pulled herself aside as another piece of something or another came flying at her. And another. And another.

"You know," she said after a few minutes of dodging, "Add a few sound effects and this could be a great video game."

She spun herself aside and narrowly avoided something really big. It had been the size of a family car at least in her opinion. Then she rapidly ducked under another piece of debris of whatever it was that was flying around her before another piece smacked into her legs.

Hay Lin bit her lower lip determined not to cry. She could dodge for a while, but the amount of debris seemed to be increasing. Where was it all coming from, she wondered to herself.

As the debris flying through the air became thicker, more and more pieces hit her. A smack in the arm, a thump to the shoulder and various other places.

"Whoo!" she said excitedly as she dodged another piece of debris. She was stuck in solid form, in an impossible world, facing impossible odds. In stories, that meant that a rescue was underway, right? In the meantime, she may as well dodge and enjoy herself.

(Besides, if she was too badly hurt, she was sure that her body would revert to it's default gaseous state. She hoped.)

The corridor in front of her crackled with sparks.

Arcs of electrical energy jumped from one side to the other in a dazzling, if somewhat fearsome display and Will looked on with concern. Behind her was a closed steel door and on the other side.

Slowly, but surely, the sparks slowly moved their way down the corridor, pushing ever closer to Will and Will swallowed nervously. Normally she had nothing to fear from electrical sparks like this. She even was able to use them normally.

This was not a normal situation. Even if her powers had somehow been returned (and she doubted that they had), the constant changes in scenery did not inspire confidence. She turned and faced the shut door behind her.

"Open!" she commanded.

The door remained shut and Will growled.

"Please?"

The door remained stubbornly shut and Will rolled her eyes.

"Figures," she said with a sigh of exasperation. She turned and looked at the advancing electrical sparks. They were definitely getting closer. She turned and faced the steel door once more. Her normal powers might not be working, but maybe her Candracarian armour…

Scrabbling at the join with her fingertips, she tried pulling the door open.

Suddenly a spark of electricity jumped off of the doorframe and sent Will flying.

When Will sat up, she could see that her situation had only gotten worse. Now, instead of being approached by arcs of electricity from one side, they now came from both sides.

"Oh fuck," she said as the space surrounding her became smaller and smaller.

There was a flash of light and suddenly Caleb and Matt appeared next to her.

"Told you I could find them," Matt said with a smirk. "Now-whoa!"

"I can't stop them!" Will shouted. "My powers aren't working at all."

Matt strummed out a tune on his guitar and the sparks flew back.

"Mine is," he said with a smirk. He began to play another tune, drawing the electrical sparks to him and away from Will and Caleb. All around him, electricity danced. And when the corridor was no longer filled with sparks, he suddenly changed his tune and released the energy into the wall.

For a moment, Will glowed pink. Then a curved glowing pink equals sign appeared over her and disappeared.

"Well that was...unexpected," Caleb said after a moment of silence. He glanced over at Matt, who simply shrugged.

"That wasn't me," he said and Caleb raised an eyebrow. "Really, it wasn't!"

"Hey, I've got my powers back!" Will exclaimed before Caleb and Matt could say anything else. They looked at her.

In the palm of her hand, electrical sparks danced across the surface. She grinned.

"We need to find the others," Caleb said with a frown and Will nodded.

"How did you guys know where to find me anyway?" she asked and Caleb shrugged.

"Matty boy here was able to use his powers to follow you," he said and Matt shrugged. "Can you find the others?"

"No problem!" he said and he began a new tune.

AN: I was definitely beginning to run out of steam there. Hope it still works.
