Despite what people might think by looking at his physique, Toki didn't necessarily like to work out. Not to say that he hated it, of course. There were just a lot of other things he knew he could be doing.
Like finally unlocking that song on DDR, or finishing that model he'd sworn would be done by the end of the week.
And, of course, those needed to be done; and they would as soon as he felt like it. But DDR meant the main room and having to try and make out the song over the latest alcohol-fueled ranting. Working on the model meant he could finish and then have days to wait for the next decent project. Really, he didn't want any of those things.
Since those two options were closed off, he had to make choices. Mordhaus was a very small place if you actually wanted to be alone. The choices were limited in ways no one would imagine by looking at blueprints. But it wasn't like that was a bad thing; most of the time he enjoyed it.
But when his dislike for his band mates was balanced with the reluctance to go to his escapes, he was left with the gym.
There were advantages to being in there. Far beyond the opportunity to solitude was the use of the best sound system outside of the recording room. Just insert a CD, press a button, and you were enveloped in music.
And, of course, the selections all had to be in Norwegian. He could be transported back to the solitary days of his teens -wandering around towns with new found freedom and a lust for music.
Pickles would call it noise when he was hung-over, Nathan would steal melodies from whatever caught his interest. And Skwisgaar, whose language and culture was close enough that he could have some knowledge, made his typical opinion of 'sounds dildos'.
Dethklok wasn't known for having people with any real interest in doing… anything besides music. And, truth be told, they were all often too occupied to even do that. The chances of them getting to the gym, much less using the equipment, were slim. But the Norwegian blaring from the speakers probably helped keep them very far away.
Toki never managed to reach this conclusion; but, then, he'd never put that much hard thought into it.
But, really, it didn't matter all that much anyway.
