"Not now detective, not another word."

Eames and Goren glanced at one another before making their way back to their car. They knew the other officers would get the Captain back to the precinct. Right now they just wanted to get out of there.

As they drove off, Goren looked over at his partner. "Drink?" He asked, hoping she would agree.

She looked over then nodded her head. "Yeah," She said with a sigh. "That sounds like a good idea."

As they sat at the bar Eames noticed for the first time how tired he looked. When the case had started they had been out of sync and she had honestly been ignoring him. As the case wore on she had started to pay a little more attention to him. By the end they were closer to where they used to be. But they still weren't fully recovered yet.

So close and yet so far. She thought to herself.

Goren's voice soon broke her thoughts. "E-Eames?"

"Yeah," She said, turning to look at him. His eyes were on the glass of beer in front of him.

"I'm…I'm sorry." He said and she continued to look at him, knowing he had more to say. "I n-never meant to hurt you. To make you think I didn't trust you." She was the one looking at her glass now. "I just…had to...get back. Ya know?"

"Yeah, I know." She said, looking up at him. Their eyes connected and for a brief moment they were the perfect team again. "You've gotta trust me Bobby," She said, using his first name so he knew she was being serious. "We've come too far to just…throw it all away." She had glanced down and when she looked back up she was surprised to find him still looking at her.

"I know." She was about to say something when he reached out and took her hand in his. She gave him a confused look as he stared at their hands. "I want you to know…how much…how much you mean to me Alex."

"Bobby," Her voice was soft and he gave a small smile.

"I've never had anyone stick with me this long." She nodded. "S-Sometimes I wonder what I did to deserve you as a partner." He gave a small laugh and rubbed his eyes with his free hand. "I should be thankful for you and instead I…I push you away."

He let go of her hand and she felt a pang of sadness as she realized how nice it had been having his hand in hers. "I'd be stupid if I said I didn't understand why you push people away Bobby."

"You're not stupid…"

"Thank you," She whispered and he gave her a small smile. "That means a lot."

"Y-You're welcome." There was a moment of silence as they both took a sip of their drinks. "So…we're ok?"

She smiled. "Yeah, we're ok."

He gave her a big grin, which made her smile in return.

We'll be ok. She thought as he started rambling about a book he was reading. They were too strong to be ripped apart. They would be just fine.
