"To love me, little one, you must give up your sanity."

Well that was easy, he had lost it the first time those red slick lips collided with his in bursts of passion.

"You must be able to kill for me."

He had done so as well, his want-to-be lover stood over his shoulder as he ran the blade through Jounouchi's heart.

"You must give up your innocence for me."

He had done that too (although while innocent in body, his mind had been tainted some years ago). He had lain down, and let the fireypulsingthrobbingheat of the other come into his reluctantly yeilding body.

"You must bleed for me."

He had been heartbroken when he had seen the wanted lover of his kissing the white haired thief as he held him tightly in his arms. He had ran home, and parted the skin of his wrists in the water filled basin of his tub, the water turning steadly darker.

"You must be able to die for me."

He had been sentenced to Limbo, to wait and think of his life until the gods deemed it necessary, the wounds of his death still on his sky-clad body.

"You must not listen to your own wishes, and obey only me."

His mind wanted to breakbreakbreak. but his love had said a broken mind was useless. And even in the pitchblack of a personal hell, he wished to obey The Rules.

"You must always, ALWAYS believe in my word."

He had been semi-broken, the time he had spent in the Limbo was unknown. It felt like eternity, which it may have been, or it could have been only a palmfull of minutes.

He had looked up, his eyes open to see his love over him. His love had carried his soul back to his body, and he was alive again.

He had always said no one got to kill him but he himself.

"You must leave your world behind, and devote yourself to me."

He had. He had left the little family he had, and had lived with the other.

"You must wear my name engraved upon your back, a testament to your loyalty to me."

His love had carved the letters in with a hot knife coated in ink, tattooing the scarred flesh permanetly with his name. And he loved it, wearing his lovers name in a mark of ownership.

"You must trust my judgement."

When his love had curtly said the thief was only kissing him to learn how, part of him didn't believe his love, but he trusted his love knew what he was doing.

"You must committ yourself to me publicly, in front of the others."

He smiled at this rule, knowing it had only been added because his love knew that was not quite as quietly obedient now, the scandal with the thief making him lose his trust in his lover, and it was the one thing his love needed most of all from him.

So in front of all their allies, and semi-friends, they pledged to stay with each other, bright rings of gold encircling their ring fingers.

"Finally...you must love me, and stay with me for all time."

And as he leaned down, Marik knew he had made the right decision in claiming Yugi as his own.
