"Lucy"

He killed her. He killed his Lucy, the love of his life.

Lucy, I'm so sorry…

How could he not have known? He caressed her face and studied her. Her hair was dirty and matted and her eyes − which once projected innocence and life − were now lifeless and empty, all because of him. All because he had trusted Mrs. Lovett.

What had I done?

Mrs. Lovett. How dare she? How dare she deceive him? She had known all along that his Lucy was alive, yet told him she had killed herself after being raped. Why? Because she was naïve enough to believe that he would eventually stop mourning for his "late wife" and fall for Mrs. Lovett.

I trusted her! And yet she betrayed me.

How could she believe that he would fall for her and live happily ever after by the sea? Now, the wench must get what she deserved.

I must get revenge.

And that he did, by luring his deceiver with encouraging words and waltzing with her. But little did Mrs. Lovett know, this would be her last dance she would ever have.

She doesn't realize she's staring death in the face.

They danced and danced as he drew them nearer and nearer to the oven. Mrs. Lovett was completely oblivious that her life would end within minutes. Round and round they spun, her skirt twirling with each movement. And then, once they were close enough, he pushed her.

She certainly got what she deserved.

She screamed as she felt her skin melt away from the heat of the flames. Mrs. Lovett looked into the eyes of the man she had loved and saw nothing but malice. She loved him, she truly did. Why couldn't he return her feelings? Because of Lucy, yes, he had wanted his revenge on the Judge, especially after hearing what had become of his wife. And now he had murdered the only other being who truly cared for him and loved him with all their heart.

There was a barber and his wife…

He cradled Lucy's lifeless and bloody body, wishing for God tear him apart at that very instant.

And she was beautiful…

He should have known. He should have known! He wished he could turn back time, but it was over. It was over.

A foolish barber and his wife…

He would give anything to see Lucy alive and well; he would give his life. Oh, how he longed to see a smile grace her beautiful lips again; longed to hear her say "I love you, Benjamin Barker."

She was his reason and his life…

But no, he would never get that chance, all because he ended her life prematurely by his own blade. From behind, he could hear young Tobias climb out of the sewers and pick up his friend, his razor, from the stone floor.

And she was beautiful…

Closer and closer the child came. Tobias watched him cradle his late wife as he lifted the silver razor into the air.

And she was virtuous…

Sweeney was well aware of his fate, yet he could not care less. He actually wanted to die. He wanted to be rid of this heartache once and for all and perhaps see his loving wife in another life. Or not. For she would surely go to Heaven, and he, he would suffer an eternity in Hell.

And he was…

He exposed his neck for young Tobias to bring the razor across his jugular. Only in death would he find his salvation, but of course, he came to this realization too late. His form still cradled his late wife as the crimson liquid now flowed down from his neck and onto his wife's matted, wheat-colored hair and pale, blemished face. He would always love her.

Naïve.

Maybe now he could find his peace…
