Saturday: Storms
The room was illuminated for a split second and a figure could be seen huddled up under the covers. It flinched when the thunder blasted and curled up even tighter into itself. Hidan observed his temporary roommate from his own bed. Sakura, the new recruit, was told to sleep in his room until they found space for her. His own partner was on a long mission, and wouldn't be back for at least three months. From across the room, Hidan thought, What kind of ninja is she if she isn't even able to deal with a storm? He watched the pathetic, quivering lump in contempt. The lightning flashed again, bringing thunder with it, and a small whimper escaped into the air.
"It's just a storm. Not like the lightning's gonna kill you," Hidan said, the scorn in his voice obvious.
A head popped out of the covers and it muttered a weak, "Fuck you." Hidan smirked. He got out of bed and walked over to her, completely silent and with her back facing him. Leaning over, he spoke, "Hmm…?" His soft voice murmuring into her ear startled her and she jumped. Her wide, emerald eyes looked up into his violet ones and he saw that they were glistening. She sniffled a little. Was she crying?
"I said," she began, her voice wavering. "Fuck you." Hidan brushed a stray strand of bubble-gum pink hair away from her face. There were fresh tear streaks running along her smooth cheeks. Yes, she was. Now he felt a little guilty.
"What's wrong?" he asked gently, lying down beside her. He could feel her stiffen up at first, but then relax. He toyed with the strand of hair idly.
"It's nothing," she said quietly. Only an idiot wouldn't see that she was lying.
Hidan scoffed. "If it was nothing, you wouldn't be crying. Now I'll ask again. What's wrong?" Lightning exploded again and she cringed.
"I..."
"You..." he urged.
She shook her head. "Nevermind."
His violet eyes narrowed in annoyance. "Tell me."
"No," she said, crossing her arms and pouting childishly.
Hidan groaned. The storm raged on outside and Sakura's face changed from an expression of stubborness to one of fright. His eyes softened and he gently wrapped his arms around her. She immediately stiffened at the contact, but slowly relaxed into his chest. She fell asleep in his arms.
I thought this story was only okay. I had an idea at the beginning, but then I went sort of brain dead. Not to mention that Hidan's a little OOC and the ending sucked. Ah, well. Review please!
