Life isn't fair, people say. It holds true for this non-life they have, as well.
Demyx doesn't trust the other members. He isn't naïve. Sending half of them to a secluded castle and putting iMarluxia/i in charge is just about the stupidest idea he's ever heard.
He tells Zexion this, and Zexion looks at him and asks why it matters. Demyx rolls his eyes and tells him of icourse/i it matters, why should Zexion be following stupid orders like that?
And Zexion tells him that he doesn't have a choice. And he doesn't, really.
Demyx knew that. He did. That didn't mean he had to like it.
So he decided he'd go to Superior, and alright, maybe he was a bit naïve, but dammit, he wasn't just going to let this all happen.

"You're sending six of them there. How many do you think are going to come back?" He tries not to notice how desperate his voice sounds.
"As many as are worthy."
Demyx gives Xemnas a disgusted look, and leaves.

Demyx stares at Axel with cold eyes. He knows he's shaking, but he can't bring himself to care.
Worthy, huh.

Roxas leaves one day. Demyx can't stop laughing.

We do to have hearts!

Oh, of course. How obvious. Axel was right about one thing, at least, even if he was a murdering bastard.
Demyx knows why that look in Axel's eyes after Roxas left was so familiar, now.
And Demyx, he laughs.
