I don't own anything

I don't own anything.

Unless of course one of you darling readers wants to give it all to me for my birthday.

YAY!! DO IT!

That would be the bestest present ever!!

As Calwyn lay in Darrow's arms she thought quietly.

Her young daughter Mica and her son Xani were asleep now finally. Her lips creased into a soft smile as she thought of the two troublesome twins who could never be separated.

She wondered if that was how she and Halasaa had been when they were that age. She would never know – that time was past.

Her eyes drifted shut as she tried to fall back to sleep. Images flashed before her eyes, of the past and of the future. She saw Xani and Mica killed, the spear and dagger still sticking out of their chests, and then she saw her two children die just as their namesakes had.

She wanted to shout out – this would never happen, it's impossible. Then she saw who had thrown the weapons.

The others drifted out of her view as she stared at Samis, fear overcoming her body. "I've beaten you once Samis, and I can do it again!" He smiled wryly, "Beaten me? You sent me away in a silver ship. You must have known that one day I would come back."

"No! No!" Her screams became quieter and turned into sobs as she saw who his next victim was. Samis held a knife at Darrow's throat, "My dear Heron, say goodbye."

As he began to move the knife Calwyn's eyes jerked open.

Darrow lay next to her still asleep and the curtains fluttered ever to softly in the barely present wind.

She climbed out of bed and walked onto the balcony. With her head turned upwards she began to watch the sky.

She had tried to count the stars before but had given up after a few thousand. She tried again every night.

In reality, it was just a distraction, to pull her away from her real purpose out here – to make sure he never came back.

A hand on her shoulder startled her out of her reverie. "Calwyn darling," Darrow whispered into her ear, "he's not coming back. Look around you, our world is at peace once more. Be happy."

She turned around and smiled, kissing him gently. He turned back to go to bed and she went to follow him.

At the last moment she looked back up to sky. Yes, the world was at peace – and that was what frightened her most. When they had no problems she felt that more had to be created, and she feared him doing so.

She could be happy, she could be thankful and she could still be cautious.

Yes, the world was at peace and while it was she would continue to do one thing.

She would watch the sky.
