...So this is it...the final chapter. After a total of three other Transformers series went by and this is one that began in the middle of the Second season of Transformers Animated...it has finally concluded. It's hard to believe that a simple oneshot I made off the fly could turn into a project I would follow for years to come. But I'm sure some of you don't care so I'll go into more detail after the chapter and story concludes. THANK YOU ALL FOR THOSE WHO READ/YELLED AT ME TO UPDATE/COMMENTED/AND ALL POINTS IN BETWEEN! If you stayed with me since the original posting of this story...my God you're awesome and I commend thee.
Sari stirred weakly lying down. She was barely able see through her eyes as she opened them slightly but she could tell that she was in a bed due to how soft the material she was laying on. It was the warmest she'd been in quite some time, being in covers.
As her eyes adjusted as well as her other senses she was able to slowly piece together what was happening around her. One of her arms was exposed, showing her internal Cybertronian form but it was hooked up to machine, transfer glowing pink liquid to her arm. She was also able to now tell she'd been changed into her pajamas.
Memories slowly started come to her. The thoughts with Starscream, Primacron and Tornedron...
She gasp "Starscream..." she tried but her voice was weak.
It was then everything finally registered around her...there was light. She turned to the side and she could tell she was in her room at the Autobot base on Earth, she could out the window and saw sunlight.
She smiled seeing the bright light, they succeeded somehow. Not only did they finally defeat Tornedron, the energy returned back to where it all originated. How that happened she had no idea but she wasn't complaining.
The dark skinned techno-organic tried to look in front of her and she was surprised to see Bumblebee sitting in front of her but he was asleep. She found it sweet of him. But it also made her wonder what happened to Starscream since he nor any of the other Autobots were there.
Despite how weak she felt, she wasn't really in any sort of pain just really tired and her muscles were sore. She kept herself laying back in her tire bed and closing her eyes slightly as her mind began to wonder.
All the events played through her head from the very beginning with Starscream's failed encounter with neutralizing Megatron to which the two of them were lost in the caves and the fight with a monster of previously unknown origin. Little did she know that fixing the Decepticon would lead him to making a new leaf. An unofficial defection to the Autobots, learning piece by piece what it meant to be a true friend.
The fight with the Decepticons both times, unlocking the power of the AllSpark fragment, their daring escape to Cybertron and thus facing energy 'vampires' from the very dangerous Tornedron. And more importantly faced up to Primacron and ultimately stood up to face Tornedron.
The whole experience was both emotionally and physically draining. Even playing through her mind about all of the events was draining in it's own right. Almost making her want to fall back to sleep as it was starting to give her a headache already.
"Sari?" Bumblebee said in tired tone as he awoke.
She turned her head facing her large friend "Bumblebee?" she said weakly but she smiled at him.
"Sari! You're awake." he smiled inching forward closer to her by her side, opposite of the machine giving her energon "I'm honestly surprised to see you awake already. Ratchet said you'd be out at least another week."
Despite her slightly disoriented state, she noticed how calm he was which was out of character for him, probably something Ratchet told him to not do when she awoke "Is everyone okay?"
The yellow Autobot smiled "Oh yeah. Once everything went back to normal we were able to locate Starscream's energy signature and flew back to Earth." He then shrugged "We could've stayed on Cybertron but we thought it would be safer here now that everything had settled down now. Also Optimus thought we should check everything on Earth when that thing hit us." He paused "And with Starscream on the ship..."
Sari smiled still but then asked "Where's Starscream?"
"He's in repair bay still. Both of you guys stressed out your energy reserves to the max. You weren't awake when we picked you up. Before he went into stasis though, he told us about your little discovery."
She looked over to her Cybertronian exposed limb. Surprisingly it didn't bother her anymore knowing about it. Now she wanted many answers from her father, but right now it was better for them to not think about it really. Not to mention, she might be in trouble due to the lack of human care they could provide if that wasn't the case.
All of a sudden the door opened showing both Optimus and Ratchet coming talking to one another.
"...the fragment must've-" Optimus stopped when he noticed Bumblebee and Sari talking. Ratchet looked over as well a have a solid nod. "Sari, you're awake."
Sari nodded quietly as Ratchet walked up to her and kneeled down to her "Good to see you awake kid. But don't think for a nano-click to be going out and about!"
Sari gave a weak chuckle "I don't think I could if I wanted to."
Optimus smiled "It's good to see awake Sari. Both of you had dangerously low energy levels. Primus knows what would've happened if we didn't get there a megacycle too late."
"He's right kid. You shouldn't be running on energy levels so low." Ratchet continued "I still don't know what happened out there but you're one lucky protoform."
She sighed but still smiled "Didn't Starscream tell you what happened?"
It was then that Bulkhead entered the room both of which expressed their pleasure of seeing their friend alive, well, and awake. He expressed his concern and was happy for her.
"It must've been an adventure for the two of you." Bulkhead added with a large smile.
"Didn't Starscream say what happened?" She asked again though still keeping her mood up seeing her other friend.
Optimus shook his head "He was barely functioning when we picked you two up. All he said was that you were a Cybertronian before going into complete stasis."
Ratchet nodded "Good thing too. We'd probably be struggling to keep you online otherwise."
"So..." Bulkhead began "Mind telling us what happened?"
"Yeah, I mean after that big orange cloud thing and energy vampire things I don't remember anything else." Bumblebee asked.
Sari groaned lightly to which Ratchet noted. Not that she needed to give this sign anyway "Give her some space!" He ordered "She's still very weak and I don't think bring up all that had happened in such a short amount of time will be of any help! Now let her get some rest!"
The elder bot made his point as all of them gave the girl her space so she could rest.
-Repair Bay-
Starscream groaned as he awoke on metal berth as his optic covers opened and his optics glowed brightly. He slowly sat up as he looked around the brightly lit room. Aside from the Energon cube and some other bits of computers, there was nothing he wasn't familiar with since his previous visit.
"Good to see awake again Starscream. After two weeks." The addressed seeker turned around to see Prowl behind him with his arms crossed.
The seeker groaned lightly facing him "You really like doing that don't you?"
The Autobot merely kept his gaze "It has it's merits." he admitted "But I have to admit, I'm much more interested in what happened." he paused "Like the new optics by the way."
"Hmph" he groaned silently, completely forgetting his new blue optics "I still have a hard time believing it myself." He then stopped "Where's Sari?"
"She's resting." he assured him "Informing us about Sari's Cybertronian ancestry allowed us to act quickly." He then lowered his stare "However her organic side needs more time to heal, all that time in space has damage that side of her...but she will be okay. Now about what happened."
The seeker nodded "That orange cloud thing that attacked the ship..."
Starscream explained the excessive detail about Tornedron, all the energy leeching Cybertronians on Cybertron and of course Primacron. Prowl noted that the seeker was actually acting pretty civilly, well as civilly as Starscream could be anyway. He never raised his voice nor did he make any kind of snide or rude comment about the Autobots or even Bumblebee that was with him. He still gloated about some of his accomplishments, particularly when he faced all of Tornedron's constructs of creatures but he gave credit where credit was due namely with Sari giving the final blow to finish off Tornedron.
"...but I have no idea what happened to the key." he finished.
Prowl nodded and thought for a moment "We couldn't locate the key either. All we found was, interestingly, an AllSpark fragment."
The magenta seeker turned around to see face the Autobot who was holding the fainting glow of the small fragment. "So the fragment survived."
"Yes, it seems the fragment was somehow able to return all the energy back to where it all originated." Prowl hypothesized.
"What about Primacron?" he asked now standing up from the berth but was surprisingly a bit winded from the simple action but faced Prowl. "Surly they would've investigated the Space Station once everything was put back to normal by now."
Prowl shook his head "I can't say for certain. Since the whole incident we've been keeping our contact with Cybertron limited. Also the Decepticons have been keeping quiet so we've been out of touch."
"Limited? Why?"
Prowl didn't say anything only fiddled with the small dimly lit fragment. The seeker was about to say something but he eventually figured it out...with him around, going to Cybertron and trying to explain everything would be tricky.
It was then that the two of them heard Ratchet give a loud order to the rest of the group to leave. Prowl actually smirked at this and Starscream followed suite due to the timing of the yell. The seeker turned around to the door for it to open and reveal Optimus Prime entering the small repair bay.
"Starscream, you're awake too. What are the odds?" the Autobot squad leader commented.
"Why of course. I can't be made restricted to a repair bay."
Optimus nodded with a comedic though annoyed tone "How are you feeling?"
"Like being gripped by Unicron's servo..." he groaned "Sari is okay...everything back to normal?"
"Yes, Bumblebee told us a lot of what happened on Cybertron. The energy leeching and all that." He shook his head "Good to know that you and Sari came through." He then smiled lightly "Can't say a Decepticon could've done that."
The seeker merely turned around with a slightly annoyed groan about the comment. There was a brief silence "I still don't understand how the fragment was able to put things back to normal after all that Tornedron had done..."
Prowl handed the fragment to Optimus and he looked at the lifeless looking fragment. He clutched his servos around the fragment "It's believed that the AllSpark is a manifestation or a portal to the Well of AllSparks. If that's true, then our fallen may have restored all the energy back to where it came from."
Starscream shook his head, being a former scientist coming into play now, but commented "Probably the best answer we're ever going to get."
The squad leader nodded then asked "Do you mind telling me everything that happened?"
The seeker groaned again but this time he slightly sat down on the berth. Prowl got to the side of his leader "Let him rest. He already explained everything to me."
Optimus nodded and Prowl followed. Starscream growled, feeling so weak but even he wasn't going to get himself killed over something so petty as pride...he smirked at the irony at the statement has he lied back down on the metal berth.
-Two Weeks Later-
Over the course of two weeks later the ex-Decepticon and the newly introduced techno-organic were back in good health. Despite how serious the whole event was, due to all the damage being that easily reversed it was left as an anecdote of sorts. Needless to say, the lack of energy on Earth caused many problems but since Earth's energy drain had a similar effect as it did to Cybertron, the return of energy didn't leave any long lasting effects.
Primacron was apprehended by Autobot Troopers and was currently in prison. While he never confessed to the creation of Tornedron or Unicron, he didn't fight them nor did attempt to justify his actions. Neither Starscream or Sari came to his defense mostly since it wasn't possible. But at the same time, Autobots had no intention of executing him, or at least not yet.
Starscream stayed on Earth but still hadn't officially defected to the Autobots. He did however remove all affiliation to the Decepticons and the insignias he once wore proudly were now removed. He only occasionally got involved with the group, mostly when they needed air support and guarded the base.
His involvement with the Autobots remained unsettling but Bumblebee had been more open with him and showed some sense of friendship since he was with him for so long alone with Sari. It was mutual on some level as he hardly lost his tone with him now. Prowl has also showed faith in him, once again trying to help him 'see the light'. The others had come used to the fact that he was around and Optimus occasionally brought up complete defection but he never pressured him about it.
Sari's new discovery of her Cybertronian half was subject for conversation for a time but it didn't bother her too much anymore. In fact she learned to embrace it, but she was more interested in talking to her father about it...and she didn't like any theories she had but didn't make any assumptions. After all, Starscream assured her that it was highly unlikely that he could've built a techno-organic.
It was night time now and the large jet had sat on top of the building that served as the Autobot Headquarters. While it was still a concern that the Deceptions now knew the location of their base and were making arrangements to find a new one, Starscream was able to even the field by revealing the Decepticon base as well as his assistance when the inevitable rescue of Isaac Sumdac would occur.
The former scientist looked up at all the stars that previously had no glow...just a void of nothing but darkness. It was strange really, he didn't feel all that proud about it anymore and Sari was too modest to make a big deal beyond a snide comment to her friends in a joking manner. Why? He didn't know. Maybe this whole thing was more of a character change than even he could've noticed.
It was then he heard some metal clanking. He turned around to see Sari coming up a ladder to see her large friend.
"Hey" she began with her usual youthful smile "It's getting late you know."
He chuckled as he watched her sit right next to him "Last I checked the Autobots didn't give me a curfew...unlike you."
She gave a mocking laugh "Yeah right." she let out a breath as looked up at the stars "It's kinda cool you know...all the stars." The seeker returned his gaze to them "You know, you never really notice them."
The seeker chuckled "Even on Cybertron. The stars are always there and yet I never gazed upon them. Never notice them till you're in a dark void where they once stood." he gave a dry chuckle "Not that it really matters of course, now that both Primacron and Tornedron are dealt with."
Sari let out a breath "Do you still think about that at all?"
"Not really. The only time I think about it now is when I'm running low on energy or..." he paused for a moment "when I look at the stars now."
The dark skinned girl laughed "Getting sentimental are we Screamer."
"What?" he acted offended "is it wrong that I recognize the beauty the universe has to offer?"
"Other than yourself." she joked on.
"Well I believe that you and the Autobots have that etched in your processor now. No need to waste the energy on making that point any further."
She rolled her eyes at this but still kept gaze on everything above her "Thanks for sticking it out to the end."
The seeker smirked "We're still on this?" he turned his gaze to her "But really, you showed a lot of things to me in the course of two orbital cycles. Something I couldn't have learned with a millions of years with the Decepticons or alone attempting to pursue a meaningless goal."
"Yeah, but I don't think I would've know anything about if it wasn't for the Autobots being there for me you know."
Starscream cocked his head to the side, thinking about all of Prowl's 'lessons' as it were. Maybe Sari learned from him as well. He was aware of him teaching her all about keeping herself in control with her newly discovered Cybertronian roots.
"Perhaps..." he began "Well, at least it wasn't all for naught." he smirked as he stepped down from the roof and went back inside.
Sari smiled shaking her head "Yeah..."
Well, I promised an explanation as to why it took so long when the inspiration for the story had never died off. Well to put it simply, I wanted to start over. Again this was a story that was made simply as a oneshot one night when I was still in school. But popularity convinced me to continue on and originally there was no real plot till I decided to base it on Tornedron from G1. But that was what made it so hard to write, I had a difficult base and a continuity that was hard to follow because of what was established early on.
To put it bluntly, I wanted to start over and actually have a full story planned. But...I was afraid I wouldn't get done at all since I still wanted to work with what I got. I also made the mistake of adding in other elements from other stuff from G1 and of course I added the techno-organic angle. Although I personally wished they kept Sari a 10 year old and have her age naturally but I'm not Cartoon Network or Hasbro. Anyway, despite all the trouble this story was, I have no regrets. I actually thank everyone screaming at me to update on this and get this thing going again.
Again, if you started at the beginning...my God, I can't thank you enough for caring for my work. Till all are one! Long live the USA! (or whichever country you originate from), good day, God Bless, and all points in-between!
