Drabble time. Yay. This drabble takes place sometime after 'Joannie B. Goode'. What an episode. I actually want to write Moliver for the first time in a while because of it. Yay! xD
Anyways, I hope I didn't make the meaning of this drabble too vague. Brownie points for whoever gets it. lol. Well, enjoy.
Replica
"You wore your hair up."
"I know. You like it?"
He stared at the top of her head for a while, beginning to absentmindedly gnaw at his bottom lip. He looked uneasy. He looked at a loss for words - because he was… and not in a good way. The reaction should've been automatic and obvious. Joannie had been his girlfriend after all, but he didn't know why he couldn't bring himself to at least lie to make her smile.
She stared at him expectantly, also biting her bottom lip.
He stopped doing this himself, and was about to answer, until an interruption in the form of a slender, familiar girl came running down the hallway, waving papers in her right hand.
"Oliver!"
He spun around and put his hands in the air as if he'd been caught engaging in criminal activity.
"Yes, Miley?!" he exclaimed right back, turning to face her.
She too had her hair up today, in the exact same style as Joannie. Miley didn't seem to notice. But Joannie did. It was most likely the reason for the look of disgust that had appeared on her face.
"Did you do the Biology worksheets?"
"Yes."
"Did you complete them?"
"Yes."
"Are the answers correct?"
"Uh…"
"Okay, I can deal… do you have them with you?"
"No. They're in my locker…"
Joannie crossed her arms as she watched her boyfriend and his best "girl bud" talk. She had suddenly become invisible to the two.
"… could I borrow…?" Miley's face suddenly went soft, and Oliver put on a mock-thoughtful look.
"I dunno. I'll have to think about - ow!"
She hit him with the papers in her hand, sending him her own annoyed look. "Oliver."
"Fine. Follow me."
He walked away with Miley, in the direction of his locker, and Joannie was left dumbfounded and alone. She watched them walk off, finding her hate for Miley growing by the second.
Some relief washed over her when she saw them freeze mid hallway. Oliver briskly walked back to her, leaving Miley alone and annoyed. She smiled at her reaction.
When Oliver finally reached her, he leant down and kissed her cheek. Miley crossed her arms impatiently, watching them from afar.
"Uh, sorry 'bout that. I'll see you later, okay?"
"Yeah," Joannie grinned.
He then turned to Miley, but stopped once again, and turned back to face her.
"Your hair does look good today, by the way," he said, all the hesitation and uncertainty he'd displayed earlier, gone.
Joannie smiled.
Oliver then turned back to Miley. She looked to be complaining as he met her once again. From the annoyed expression on his face, he seemed to be fighting back.
Joannie's smile widened.
She watched them walk away together. And, for a fleeting moment, she noticed Oliver's eyes travel to Miley's hair, unbeknownst to Miley herself. Then she noticed the smile that appeared on his face, how his annoyed expression suddenly disappeared, and how their eyes met as they turned down the hall.
Joannie frowned.
