AN- This is pure fluff. Just a little idea that came to mind one day. I'd like to expand it, but... It's pretty cute like this. I don't really want critiques on this one, but if you see something that's really bugging you then I don't mind. Hope you like it.
For Miles the realization came slowly and easily. He noticed he was thinking about a certain defense attorney and childhood friend more outside of court more often. He noticed his quickened pulse and clenched gut whenever that particular man was around. The notion of being in love was in the back of his mind, just out of reach, ever since the conclusion of the DL-6 incident, but it had truly become apparent by the time Wright fell into the Eagle River the night of Misty Fey's murder. Miles had gotten a private jet to speed him back from Europe as soon as he heard the news. He walked into the hospital room and saw him lying there, and the last piece just clicked into place-
He needed to be in this man's life.
For Phoenix, it hit like a freight train at 200mph with no brakes.
He never once stopped to consider his changing relationship with Edgeworth. He assumed it was their friendship from childhood rekindling just as he assumed it was simple admiration when he got excited watching him across the courtroom. He never thought about how he missed him when he was gone or why it hurt him so much when they found the faux suicide note. It just came all at once, the night they solved the Juan Corrida and Matt Engarde case. He was lying half asleep in his bed, one toe over the line into dream-land, everything that had happened during the case swimming past his partially conscious mind. At one point it paused on Maya and Pearls. He loved Maya to death, but not in the way Pearl thought, not romantically. She's cute, he thought as he slowly slipped into sleep. But I just couldn't... Not with her... He tried to imagine himself kissing her, but it was awkward and the picture quickly dissolved into another. He remained the same, but the person he was kissing was taller, with paler skin and short gray hair and-
His eyes shot open.
What- what was that just now?? Did I just... was I... with Edgeworth?! The picture leapt uncalled for to the front of his mind once again. His heart paused until the imagined kiss was over, then started racing. At that moment all of his memories of Miles Edgeworth flew past his eyes like a movie reel, and then he knew-
He needed that man in his life.
