Damned Lullaby

There dear, don't you cry

Sing with me, our lullaby,

Rest your head now and let your fears go

For if you'll rise even I don't know

Each days a gift but it brings more pain,

I don't know if we'll see sunshine again

But don't cry, dear of mine

The pain will pass, soon with time

Forget all the monsters outside of your door

For they cannot worry you anymore

I'll be with you as the light starts to fade

As they're unaware of the price that was paid

Don't mind, my tears now

Don't ask, why or how

Just know that you'll be in your dreams

Where there's no pain, no monsters or screams

Forget all the pain that you've been through

For even now there's nothing they will do

To save you, my dear one,

Even though, your life's just begun

Don't lie there thinking of what could have been

Just know that they'll never hurt you again

You'll see the ones who have gone before

But do not rejoice that there will be more

But rest now, young dear

Now I know, you're end is near

I'll hold onto you until you go to sleep

And this memory of you I forever will keep

For once your gone you will soon be forgot

That's the sad truth of this nightmarish plot

But have peace now, as you die

And hum with me, the damned's lullaby…

This is a poem for the children that are created and killed in the Itex laboratories in Maximum Ride. I can imagine Max or Nudge singing it, in order to comfort the children doomed to die in that place before they could really live. Its sad to think about.

And I know I said, for any of you reading my stories, that I wouldn't make anymore projects until I finished 'Broadcast' and 'Rose Red', but this was something I came up with in like, 5 minutes so it wasn't like I wasted valuable time on it… But anyway, I'm off to finish 'Broadcast', so I can finish 'Rose Red', so I can rewrite 'Stable Boy'. No more new ones from me!
