Regulus slumped to the floor with a sigh. He had spent the better part of the day trying to find out where the Gryffindor common room was. Regulus looked up to glare at the Fat Lady. And now she was keeping him out. The nerve of it! She had taken one look at him, a Slytherin, and refused to believe that his brother was in the room behind her. Not that mum and dad are happy with that...he thought with a frown.
He had been here, at Hogwarts, for a full two weeks and his brother hadn't come to see him once! Regulus could feel the familiar heat of tears welling up. How could he? Hadn't Sirius promised that they'd still be brothers? Even if he didn't get into Gryffindor. Even if he was the baby of the family. Regulus sniffed and felt a tear escape, making a small damp spot on his robes. Not very Slytherin of me...
Before he had time to process it, the portrait swung open and a boy stepped out, laughing and waving off the people inside. Regulus scrambled to his feet quickly and wiped at his face with his robes. Sirius.
The older boy turned and looked at him, a goofy smile on his face.
"Where're you been?" He asked, tousling Regulus' hair, "Been waiting weeks now."
Regulus smiled despite himself. They were still brothers.
