Disclaimer: I don't own the series.

A/N: Gift fic for my friend, Nuki. :3 She asked for this theme which was way too much like "Last Symphony". Take this as a side story to that fic. Warning for girlxgirl.

Momoko used to show her pain. When it ate at her she would glutton it away, lavishing herself with a banquet of sweets. These days the pain was tucked deep in her heart, rubbing the organ raw and leaving her stomach empty.

"I love you, Kaoru!"

The tomboy had awkwardly turned away from the redhead and hurried home. From then on Kaoru couldn't look her straight in the eye and any conversation they had was sullen-- uneasy.

Momoko's stomach growled, but she couldn't fill herself up like she used to. She laid her chin on the table adorned with cakes, eying the jewels of candy and spread of icing with disdain.

Kaoru broke her heart, and Brick tore her in two with his betrayal. She knew it would happen, but she continued to curl up in his false embraces, trying to ignore the dull ache in her stomach and the empty feeling in her chest.

Momoko broke a piece off the cake in front of her and popped it in her mouth. She chewed slowly. The sweetness poured over her tongue yet her throat tightened.

"Momoko, please eat." Miyako's hands were clasped together, worry pouring from her eyes.

Momoko forced herself to swallow and coughed, nearly gagging on the food. She knew that of all people she could trust Miyako, but she couldn't bring herself to spill her pain.

Why was it suddenly so hard?
