Natalia Boa Vista and Horatio Caine had been dating for only a month and a half and they had already begun living with each other. They had tried keeping their relationship a secret but it wasn't hard to tell that they were dating because Horatio always made up some silly excuse to go see Natalia and suddenly, Natalia and Horatio started riding to and from work together. Calleigh was the first to confirm the suspicions and gossip since she was one of Natalia's close friends and once she asked, Natalia began spilling everything.

Horatio and Natalia were walking to Horatio's car when Natalia suddenly grabbed his hand. Horatio leaned down, sporting a smile while kissing the top of her head, inhaling the sweet smell. She let go off his hand, allowing Horatio to put his arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer to him. She liked it when he did that.

The moment they got into the car, Natalia dropped the bomb: "Can we have a dog, H.?"

Horatio choked on his spit but managed to get out an incredulous "What?!"

Natalia nodded. "I want a dog. I've always had since I was a small girl."

"But why a dog?" whined Horatio, making Natalia smile. She didn't see much of this childish side. "Why not get a cat? They're much nicer and they don't smell."

Her jaw dropped. "Cats do smell!" she protested, turning and glaring at Horatio with only a small, playful twinkle in her eyes. "And they're lazy! All they do is lounge around and smell up the whole place. And until you agree to have a dog or can miraculously come up with a very, very, very good reason on why we can't have a dog, I'm not talking to you." She hid a smile, marveling at her immaturity. She turned away, folding her arms across her chest, attempting to not talk to Horatio at all.

He made a sad attempt to hide his smile as he stuck the key in and the car roared to life. Natalia kept to her promise and didn't talk to Horatio for such a long time that he started feeling nervous and that didn't happen often. When he had reached the driveway of their house, Horatio parked the car, getting out first so he could hold Natalia's door open for her. She nodded her appreciation solemnly and started to walk away until Horatio grabbed his wrist and pulled him to her.

"Darling," he said, a hand on her cheek, stroking it endearingly. "If you want a dog, then I guess you'll get it. 'Cause I definitely cannot live without you gabbing away at your first chance."

Natalia's eyes lit up and she tackled Horatio with a hug. He chuckled into his shoulder while Natalia hung onto him tightly while murmuring, "Thanks, H. And I'm sorry for acting so immature."

"Apology accepted," replied Horatio, pulling away only to meet Natalia's lips with his.
