Hey everyone, I bet you're surprised to see an extremely random update to Mega Man Zero Omega, years after it was finished, especially with my wrists injured as they are. However, I figured that the fans of the X Legend Trilogy and its successor Zero Saga deserved to know why Omega ended the way it did.
No, I wasn't just killing off all the characters, even if it looked like it. Lastly, I need to mention I'm not back yet unfortunately, my wrists are still dealing with injury. I've just had this for a while.
Basically, the plan was that in the year 25XX everyone believes the report by Doctor Ammansil. Furthermore, people begin to believe that even Fefnir and Phantom have fallen due to their grief of losing their father, friends and siblings.
Everything begins to change when a boy finds a fragment known as a biometal. This copy of X utilizes (though not to be revealed until much later) a fragment of force metal as well as a very incomplete copy of X's psyche, giving the boy the ability to mega merge with biometal X.
Essentially, the biometal is a force metal powered poor man's copy of a legendary hero in this universe.
Model W remains unchanged.
Over the next several parts of the ZX storyline, not all seems right and sometimes by the time Vent gets to the crime scene Slither Inc's forces have been decimated. Later, he meets Aile who also has Model X as well as a Model Z? She is partly at fault for the strange happenings, but even between them, some of the battles they should have had to fight, they didn't.
Eventually, the two heroes face off against Slither himself, Aile vowing vengeance for the murder of her parents. Vent attempts to calm the distraught girl down, and in their distraction, her strength is ripped from her by Slither, forcing Vent to fight alone at first.
Thankfully, Aile is able to remerge after a few minutes and the two heroes overcome Slither, leaving a number of unanswered questions.
From afar, a cloaked figure observes and with a final line, closes out the story.
"Will they ever learn?"
This was to lead to a last finale story right before and during the ZXA timeline, and it would have focused on Ashe.
Ashe is an up and coming hunter who has the desire to carve her name in the history books. Of course, she had to take the dangerous mission deep in maverick territory. Heading to the ancient ruins of an old lab, she's forced to fight off a veritable legion of mavericks, worse yet, some of them far outstrip anything the mavericks should have been able to do.
She then realizes as she slips past a high grade maverick, that these aren't regular mavericks like she's used to. No, these are high grade reploids from eras long since past. Realizing just how badly she's outclassed, Aile switches to stealth and thankfully, manages to slip into the lab.
At first she thinks she's gotten in safe and sound, but that changes when a pistol with a glowing laser sight is aimed at her forehead. A maverick, or perhaps reploid demand an answer as to why she's there, and after she admits it was a mission by legion, the still hidden in shadow stranger nods before reaching to his waist and grabbing something. He then tosses her the small object, a bio metal.
A black Model A with a unique scar crisscrossing its face.
"This place is a place where the souls of the dead rest, don't come back if you want to live."
For this point in the story, it was intentionally planned for the reader to only be able to guess at who the figure was. Axl had handed her a powerful new survival tool and she begins to use it to great effect.
Soon after, Grey and Ashe team up to make a team, and the heroes Vent and Aile much later join. However, when legion is attacked, they're surprised to learn of Master Albert's plan. Albert flees, but the other two sages are struck down by a security bot that far outstrips anything that the simple AI guard should have been able to do.
In further defiance of the poor frame, the security bot manages to disable both Ashe and Grey. Afterwards, the bot escapes. In the future, there's no sign of it. However, the strangest part was that that particular bot had been destroyed at the very beginning of the attack on legion, well before the assassination could have taken place…
Axl ended the Legion Sages (outside of Albert whom he just missed) because of their idea of equality not being equality at all and several other policies that the three had passed.
Apparently four hundred years is a heavy burden to bear.
Much of ZXA takes place the same way, Ashe and Vent still fight before forming a team, etc. Even Master Albert falls.
Afterwards, the Guardians depart to reorganize Legion.
During this time, Grey convinces Ashe to go with him to that place she got her bio metal and it's there that they learn the secrets, that it was her biometal's origin that had given it to her.
Axl, X, and Zero still breathe as do the four guardians of Neo Arcadia. But, despite that fact none of them are too interested in yet another fight which is why they were mostly hands off during the conflicts. X explains their position well.
"To you, it seems weak, to remain in the shadows while people are fighting. But is it so weak when you've already fought hundreds of wars? How many wars more do you want us to fight? Eventually, people have to pass the torch onto a younger generation that still has its idealism. For us, we knew that time had come when Ragnarok fell on Area Zero. So, we 'died' that day, and while Ciel was still among us… Well, we were at peace for the first time."
Ashe shakes her head.
"I don't want any of you to have to fight again. You helped give us a chance to live, and all of you deserve a chance to live too but… Not from the shadows, hiding the truth. There never will be anything good to come of hiding behind a mask of lies. No, I want you to live with us, as friends."
Eventually, Ashe gets the group to agree, and they still bear many scars from the ages of war, only amplified by how isolated they'd been... They learn of how Vile later snapped thanks to the death of Ciel and has been wandering who knows where since….
Ultimately, ZXA's fic would end on a questioning note. Where and what was going on with Vile, was he still alive? Would the group of war weary reploids ever rebound?
In this regard, I wanted to end it on a note that made the reader come up with answers for themselves, and if they wanted, write their own ending to it. I had no intention to ever make one of those endings canon, although I'm sure those that know me fairly well will have figured out some of the general things that I decided happened afterwards, even if never shared.
