You never meant for it to happen.

You're breathing, and it's a pulse in your head, thumping, like something wild galloping along the inside of your skull. You concentrate, because you need to think, you need to understand, you need to take it all in: none of this is real. The thing in front of you, that's real.

And you aren't.

You're thinking, you're still breathing, you can still hear you voice inside that empty room. It's fading, it's distance, and it's an echo inside a memory inside this head of yours that isn't supposed to be real. You didn't want this to happen, but when you didn't want that, you weren't even real. You remember waking up, you remember the confusion, and you're breathing, in and out, like you did then, confused and scared and not knowing what to do. You don't know what to do now. You can't move. Something's pulling you along, and there's that terrifying abyss of utter nothing right beneath the floor of your brain and it's tugging, tugging, tugging.

It wasn't supposed to be like this, you think, as you breathe, breathe, breathe. Did you know this? Was this what you wanted when you wanted to find out who you were? Did you think that this body in front of you was going to make you whole? Did you think that leaving behind the only life you knew was going to solve your problems? Did you have problems?

Maybe you did. You aren't this real thing in front you and you thought that this was going to make you real. Did you?

It doesn't matter, because you're breathing, breathing, breathing even as you're falling apart, even as you're still terrified, you're just falling apart, and nothing matters anymore. It doesn't matter what you were, it doesn't matter what you thought, because you're fading away, and nothing matters anymore, and nothing ever really did. But you're still breathing… breathing… breathing… and there's a light and it's dark and—

Breathing, breathing, breathing—

And Sora opens his eyes and yawns, and there's light everywhere.
