This is a summary of what comes next in DID. Please note that I've forgotten some of the plot over time, came up with new ideas to take their place and then forgot more bits of it.

Some of the points I wrote drabbles for I've inserted into the summary timeline. It's a bit messy but I hope it makes sense. Got kinda out of hand though, lol.

Drabble: Hibari leaves to track Tsuna and Mukuro, he finds a message from Mukuro in his bedroom

The evening air whipped across the exposed skin of his face like cold blades, but the stillness inside Hibari had completely numbed his sense of feeling. He was vaguely aware of a pounding feeling that caused him to exert more energy than his usual controlled movements. All of that was behind him though, there was only one thing on his mind right then.

His leather loafer touched down softly on the tatami mat. One look and he could see, sense, no other person in the dark bedroom.

The boy spotted escaping with the prisoner must really have been…

Hibari had almost turned his back on the room and leapt out the window to begin his search when he caught sight of something unusual out of the corner of his eye.

The black silk sheets were torn through, exposing the lighter lilac-grey mattress underneath it. Whoever had done it had cut through very carefully and deliberately. They spelled a simple message.

I WILL BE WAITING.

He knew who had done it in an instant.

Tightening his jaw, he left the empty room behind him, an ugly, black fire stewing in his chest.

o-o-o-o-o

Drabble: Mukuro (Tsuna) vs. Hibari

He flinched at the vice grip on his wrist. The strength behind the grip wasn't something usual of Tsunayoshi, something was different.

"Kufufu…" the soft idiosyncratic laugh came from the small boy in front of him. He had heard it before-

CLANG, a spark flew as metal clashed with metal. Feeling the hold on his wrist loosen momentarily, the proud clan head drew back, backstepping a safe distance away.

In Tsunayoshi's hand was the head of a trident, the points glinting dangerously in the moonlight.

"...Mukuro."

Tsunayoshi's mouth curled into a dark simper as their eyes met.

"Correct."

Hibari deftly deflected the accompanying strike with his tonfa. If he looked closely, one of his eyes were red.

"What ever is the matter, Kyouya Hibari? Do you not have the will in you to fight? I thought you were anticipating a match to the death with me."

They continued to exchange blows, the end of his left tonfa caught the side of Tsunayoshi's chin. The small brunet staggered for a second before shaking the dizziness from his head. He spat some blood onto the dirty floor next to him and then looked up, smiling almost delighted at the prefect.

"Kufufu...humans are so...delicate," Mukuro chuckled, wiping a trickle of blood away on the back of Tsuna's hand. "Come now, you will have to fight better than that if you want to win against me. Hit me with all you got."

CLANG, their weapons met, neither pulling away nor deflecting it to the side. The two continued to increase the pressure between their strikes, daring the other one to pull away first.

"This isn't my body so feel free to deal damage to it to your heart's desire…"

The flurry of strikes that followed came at increasing speeds, Mukuro had completely abandoned any sort of defense. His form was full of holes but Hibari held back in striking them. Even while possessed by a demon as sinister as Mukuro, Tsunayoshi's body looked as frail and weak as usual. It would only take one or two hits to bring him down completely.

If Tsunayoshi's mystery strength from that time surfaced again…

o-o-o-o-o

Drabble: Hibari frees Tsuna by activating his vampire instincts

Mukuro couldn't suppress the amusement he felt from this situation. Before him, the proud lone wolf, Kyouya Hibari was cornered by his own refusal to attack his host body. Of course, despite this, the small body he was possessing had suffered a few blows. A natural fighter like Hibari could not hold back indefinitely.

Shall I end this soon?

His swift thrust was easily deflected. Throughout the whole exchange, Hibari's eyes remained fixed on him.

A glint of light flashed in those steel grey eyes as the flow of the battle changed. Hibari was going on the offensive.

Perhaps he should let his host take the next hit. The shock should be enough even for this weak body to deal a fatal strike.

In the split second during which he could have dodged the attack, Mukuro remained rooted to the spot. He raised Tsuna's arm up in the pretense of a defense.

It's over.

The grin vanished from Mukuro's face when he felt the prefect's fangs pierce the flesh of his host's arm. Surprise coloured his mismatched eyes as Hibari stared back with his usual ferocity, mouth stuck fast to the wound he made.

What was he trying to-?!

Black spots appeared in his peripheral vision and then a sickening shudder shot through his ephemeral being. For a brief moment, he lost control over the host body. The arm not bitten into lashed out, smashing into the side of Hibari's head with a resounding crack.

Try as he might, Mukuro found he couldn't keep his control over the host body. Undulating waves of resistant crashed into him, forcing him to let go.

Without a moment to waste, all the half-demon could do was detach his hold and retreat to the thick shadows of the desolate building. He could sense Chrome rushing forth to offer herself as a replacement.

In the distance where the moonlight shone through the partially destroyed roof stood Hibari and his former host body, Tsunayoshi Sawada. Recovering quickly from the blow, Hibari was already getting to his feet; the Vongola however didn't move a muscle.

Slowly, the smaller boy raised his head.

The animalistic glow of his eyes were unmistakable.

So he really does have vampire blood in him.

There was one major handicap to Mukuro's possession ability. There were certain types of creatures he had difficulty possessing. The list contains mostly magical creatures. Vampires rated high on that list.

Still, this was a rather interesting turn of events.

After settling comfortably into Chrome's shadow, he watched the proceedings with great anticipation.

Would they engage in battle? If so, who would win?

Either way would benefit Mukuro's plans.

They watched with bated breath for someone to take the first move.

There was a twitch, it was the Vongola who moved first.

But instead of confronting Hibari, he streamed past him and into the night.

Mukuro (Tsuna) vs. Hibari → Hibari frees Tsuna by activating his vampire instincts → Tsuna escapes, is stopped in the forest by a possessed Fuuta (kidnapped by Mukuro for intel on vampire clans) → Tsuna knocks out Fuuta while still in his enhanced state, he returns to his senses → Reborn and Dino arrives at the abandoned building (the rest are back at Hibari's busy with the prefects) → Dino stays behind, Reborn goes after Tsuna

o-o-o-o-o

Drabble: Dino stays behind, Reborn goes after Tsuna

As soon as Reborn disappeared into the forest, Dino felt the full force of the hostile gaze directed at him.

Lingering at the edges of the shadows were two teenagers, most likely Mukuro's henchmen. Although they were bearing their fangs at him, he could tell they were watching his movements. They probably won't attack him if he didn't interrupt Kyouya and Mukuro's battle.

He shot them a little smile to let them know he had no intention of doing so. More than those two teen boys, he feared he'd be on the receiving end of Kyouya's displeasure if he stepped in right now.

His former student appeared to be so focused in his fierce battle he might not even have noticed him and Reborn arriving at the abandoned building.

Some things never change

Even in the past Kyouya easily lost sight of his surroundings when he became immersed in a challenging battle. This had its pros and cons, of course. He could never forget the first time they met and how long it took for him to convince the youth to lay down his weapons for a second.

"You must be Kyouya."

The Japanese preteen gave him a dismissing glance before returning to servicing the two metal bars in his lap, tonfas when the Italian man got a closer look.

It was a humid summer this year. Sitting on the Japanese-styled veranda, the air around them was thick with not just moisture but also the scent of blood. The estate was completely empty apart from the two of them but the signs of others having been here were evident. Many who tried to approach this freshly turned vampire barely made it out with their lives.

"Are you strong?"

"Hmm?"

"Are you strong."

The preteen's narrow eyes flickered to the leather whip attached to his waist.

"I'm pretty strong if I say so myself."

A flash of metal and the tatami mat where his foot was just a second ago was pierced through by a brutal stab of his metal tonfa.

"W-whoa! Careful there, Kyouya!"

"I see you're not completely lying," was all he got in return. The youth's voice was calm and indifferent. "Fight me and I'll listen to what you have to say."

This was what he got for doing a favour with the Vongola's Arcobaleno...he may be his former master but his favours always turned out more troublesome than they first appeared.

Dodging another attack, Dino could only sigh and bring his hand down on his holster.

"Alright, let's see what you got."

To think that little boy who had been all alone in that large estate was now the head of a clan a hundred vampires strong. The speed at which Kyouya managed to gather his clansmen and capture territory was astounding. And he had only done it after only one year as his student. There were so many rules and traditions Dino hadn't yet taught the Japanese boy, but clearly Kyouya was out to make his own rules. He will likely be in the forefront leading the change in the vampire community for the future, that was unmistakable.

As his former teacher, he felt proud in ways of how far Kyouya had come. The boy was really making a place for himself in the world.

...no...not quite. There really were some things that didn't change.

Even now surrounded by his vampire clansmen, Kyouya was still alone. He was always a private person with little tolerance for people overstepping into his lofty private space. Even Kusakabe who was arguably the closest to Kyouya respected that perimeter and knew how to navigate around it while still serving him. Kyouya has never allowed anyone to become truly close to him.

There was, however, one exception.

"You really do love this town, don't you?"

Dino had followed Hibari out on his nightly patrol when he dropped by for a visit while he was in Japan. From the roof of the high-rise, they had a stunning view of the ever expanding Namimori.

Hard to believe that just a couple years ago this growing city had been more of a quiet town.

The Italian vampire could tell from Hibari's serene aura how at ease the younger vampire was overlooking the city. It hadn't taken long for him to figure out how important Namimori was to him.

It was almost disturbing how fixated he was on this town. The selfishness he displayed when its denizen didn't quite follow the order he imposed, the viciousness with which he brought justice upon the perpetrators. Hibari's possessiveness over Namimori only lost in strength to the youth's thirst for challenging opponents.

"It's growing up wonderfully."

"Hn."

A sweet spring breeze kicked up as they took off into the night.

And now there was something new, something that had unsettled Kyouya.

Tsunayoshi Sawada, the future head of the Vongola clan and his little brother by way of their mutual teacher, Reborn.

When he first caught whiff of the rumours that Kyouya had acquired himself a blood slave, Dino was beyond shocked. Even after knowing the identity of the blood slave, he could barely believe it. He had met Tsuna already on a few occasions but while the timid middle schooler was soft-hearted and sweet there was nothing about him that would've caught Kyouya's eye.

Regardless, Kyouya had forgiven Tsuna for entering his personal space and intended to keep him there. The eyes he had when they exchanged words briefly the other night held the same emotions he saw when Kyouya thought about his beloved Namimori.

But Tsuna isn't the same as Namimori.

The flourishing town was a constant, it could never truly disappear or go away. Nor could it refuse Kyouya's attachment to it. But Tsuna can.

He held the possibility of all of those like any other living being. It would be a mistake for Kyouya to treat the both of them in the same way.

That's why that night he tried to give him some advice in hopes Kyouya would not make that mistake.

Something had happened though tonight, he could tell from the flash of what looked like fear in his eyes earlier than night back at the estate that something happened between him and Tsuna.

Whatever it was, he'll have to find out later.

Drabble: they check to see if Tsuna is in an unbreakable contract with Hibari

"I see…" Fuuta nodded, taking in Tsuna's predicament. "Give me a moment."

The surroundings grew eerily silent for such a large flourishing forest. Tsuna felt goosebumps form on his skin from the disturbing stillness. Reborn, however, looked unaffected.

Finally, Fuuta opened his eyes. They shone bright, shimmering as though inside them were a million stars. After a few seconds, their enchanting light dimmed and faded away.

"Tsuna-nii. Have you consummated the bond?"

"Consum…?"

"Have you exchanged something of intimate nature while the ring branded you?"

"Wha...w-what would fall under 'intimate'?"

"The exchange of any bodily fluids apart from blood suffices."

"..."

The only thing that fit the description from what he remembered was that kiss a few hours ago…

But he hadn't been wearing the ring when it happened. Does it still count?

Did Hibari take it off of him before they kissed for that reason? Or was it all just in the heat of the moment?

"Tsuna, answer us. This will change everything."

"...what would happen if it did happen?"

Fuuta closed his eyes again but this time he did not enter the trance like before. He seemed to merely be recalling his memories.

"The act of branding is a one-way contract. An object that can be worn by or kept on the branded is used to create the branding. Metal objects like rings, necklaces and piercings are commonly used for this process. It is typically used on someone weaker in power and status than you. This type of contract can be nullified provided the branded one is stronger and of higher status than the one who branded them. Tsuna-nii isn't officially the head of the Vongola clan yet so you have a lower status. Once you succeed the Ninth however, the contract can easily be nullified.

"Branding is not something to be done lightly even if it can be undone. It is a great insult to use it carelessly because it suggests they consider the branded as inferior even if it can be undone."

The little boy paused here to see if his audience was keeping along with him. He then continued.

"There exists two-way contract for branding. Marriages of the old were performed in this manner, usually when a smaller, weaker clan seeks to join with a mightier one. The branding lets other clans know that they are considered to be under the stronger clan and not equal to them. Nowadays, they are performed without branding or branding on both participants.

"To consummate a one-way contract into a two-way contract, the branded must accept their branding by yielding something of a personal nature to them, usually something tangible. Historically, the exchange of bodily fluids is the easiest way. Blood of vampires are not produced by the vampires themselves and thus are not effective for this process.

"Two-way contracts can only be undone through agreement from both sides. There's nothing an outsider can do to break it."

Drabble: Tsuna interrogates them on clans and vampirism

"Say something!"

Reborn's eyes were covered by the shadow cast by the brim of his hat. Fuuta next to him too could only look at Tsuna with sad, demure eyes.

"Were you not planning to tell me any of this? Were you just-...just going to force me into being the clan leader without me knowing a thing about how vampires really are?!"

Even this blood coursing through him contained traces of it, stolen blood from innocent lives that were sacrificed to give birth to his blooded ancestor.

"You keep telling me how controlled you are all, how you never kill the ones you feed on. But it's okay to kill to have a child?!"

"Tsuna, I'm not saying that-"

"You tricked me! You didn't tell me the whole truth! That's just as bad as lying!"

"Tsuna, I didn't want to tell you because I wanted you to change that."

"Change?! How could someone like me change anything?!"

"You're different, Tsuna. You're not a blooded vampire and you're not a turned one either. You grew up without having to be raised in the cutthroat society that plagues all magical creatures and you have the potential to become of the one most influential vampires in the entire world. If there's anyone could change all these terrible truths, it's you."

"You're just pushing your problems onto me! I'm just a stupid, no-good middle schooler! I can't do what you think I can!"

The frustration boiling in his body reached its limit. He was sure he'd end up doing something, saying something regrettable if he was around them any longer. Without a second thought, Tsuna turned on his heel and fled into the forest.

"Tsuna-nii…"

"Leave him be, Fuuta. He needs time to figure this out. This isn't something we can help him on"

Drabble: Conclusions on Hibari and Tsuna's relationship

"Bite me."

The forearm that was crusted over with blood was thrust out in front of Hibari.

"You want to fight me, right? You know how to make me do it." Even if he didn't want to fight back, the vampiric instincts will force him to defend himself aggressively. It wouldn't last long though, Tsuna would have no chance of winning.

"No."

Tsuna lowered his arm with a dejected sigh. What was it that Hibari wanted from him then? Clearly he didn't want his companionship, despite them having spent some time together, they knew nothing about each other. They barely talked. It was like he was some sort of pet.

Just let this all be over.

He winced as he stepped closer, the scratches on his bare feet ached as he traversed the rock-ridden ground. The white silver ring on his pinky finger reflected the waning moonlight.

"Then, kiss me."

Hibari looked at him, confused. He hadn't moved from the spot since he found Tsuna in the clearing.

"You wanted to keep me, right?" he showed the vampire his hand that bore the branding ring. "I'm letting you do it. Is this what you want?"

The hollow feeling inside him didn't dissipate when he heard the soft crunch of twigs under Hibari's loafers as he approached.

This was how it's going to end.

A cold hand grabbed him by the chin, forcing him to look up into two calm, steel-grey eyes. He could feel the other's breath against his face.

Tsuna squeezed his eyes shut and let go.

"No," said the same cool voice as he felt the metal ring slip off his finger.

Epilogue: the next day

When Tsuna next opened his eyes, it was to the prickle of the morning sun that shone on them. He blinked drearily at his surroundings, seeing the familiar clutter of his own bedroom. Outside came the thrum of cicada chirps, downstairs his mother was making breakfast judging from the sound of pots and pans.

It was such a strange feeling being home after everything that happened. Hard to believe everything that happened yesterday to be true.

Stretching sluggishly, he dragged himself out of bed after sleeping the entire evening away. It had taken all morning and afternoon to settle things between Hibari and the Vongola. He barely remembered what happened at the point having not slept for almost two days.

Wandering into the bathroom, he set about his daily morning routine. It was while he was brushing his teeth when he noticed the glint of metal under his pajama top in the mirror.

"...?"

Sitting around his neck was the silver white branding ring on a thin silver chain.

"...huh…? I was sure Hibari took this back yesterday…"

"Hibari sent it over this morning as a sign of good will."

"R-Reborn!"

In the cheerful warmth of the morning sunshine, Tsuna found it difficult to be mad at the little vampire for everything that happened yesterday. Despite his disapproval of what Reborn had done, he was too tired to give him the cold shoulder. Thinking back, he might have overreacted a little bit…

"Hurry down, Tsuna. Maman is calling."

"Yeah, yeah."

o-o-o-o-o

"Tsu-kun! You're finally up! I was wondering if you were planning to sleep the whole day away."

Stepping into the kitchen, Tsuna was greeted by the warm sight and voice of his mother. According to Reborn, she'd been told Tsuna was staying over at a friend's to work on his summer vacation homework.

"Sorry, mom."

"Take a seat and dig in, ah, that must be the washing machine. I'll join you in a second."

As soon as she bustled out of the room, Tsuna noticed something a little different than usual.

"Where'd Lambo go? And I-pin?" The two children had been spending extended periods of timing lodging in their house but he had seen neither hide nor tail of them yet. He had thought it was unusually quiet.

"That's something we need to discuss soon."

"What're you talking abou-"

DINNGG DONGG.

"That must be them." Reborn placed his morning expresso back down on the table and hopping onto the floor.

"Them?"

o-o-o-o-o

"Good morning, Tenth! You look positively radiant today!"

"Hi, Tsuna!"

"H-hi…"

At his front door were two faces he recognized but weren't all that familiar with yet. He'd formally met them yesterday after the whole mess with Mukuro and his gang.

"Where shall we hold our meeting, Tenth?! I've spent the whole night coming up with infiltration strategies. You'll find they're very thorough," said the one Tsuna thinks was called Gokudera. The half-Italian teen was covering a tote stuffed with papers.

"You're looking pretty tired there, maybe you should take a nap first?" said the one he remembered as Yamamoto. He couldn't help but smile back at the friendly grin.

"Err…" What was all this talk about a meeting?

"Tsu-kun! Why haven't you changed yet? You're going to be late," his mother chided, walking out from the yard to where they were at the entrance, her arms busy with a basket of freshly laundered clothes.

"Huh?"

"Jeez, you're such a forgetful boy, what am I going to do with you," she sighed, shaking her head. "You have summer revisions at school today, don't you?"

"Ah."

That's right. It might be the middle of summer vacation right now but he still had revisions class for his terrible grades during the first trimester. He'd completely forgotten with all that had happened as of late.

Before anyone else could put in a word, the loud thrum of a combustion engine roared into their vicinity. A black motorcycle pulled up in front of his house.

"...Hibari…-san…?"

The motorbike's rider gave the surprised group a dismissing look before looking Tsuna square in the eyes.

"Uh...um, are you heading to Nami-Middle today…?" The prefect was wearing his usual gakuran but he almost always did even on off days.

"Hurry up."

"Huh?"

Yamamoto laughed at their exchange.

"Hibari, if you want to drive Tsuna to school, all you got to do is say so."

"Wha-"

"Tenth! You must reconsider! We may have settled our differences yesterday but he is still the enemy! Let's go and hold our meeting without this outsider!"

"Ah, but if Tsuna has revisions, that means he's got to go to school, right? We can't have the meeting then."

"What are you talking about, Yamamoto? You have revisions too."

"What? Really? ...ahahaha, oh yeah! Thanks for reminding me, little guy."

"I've said this before and I'll say it again! Don't be so rude to Reborn-san!"

"Ahh...I'm just going to...go get dressed…"

"I'll guard your door, Tenth! And please allow me to accompany you to your revisions class!"

"It's fine! I'm just going to get changed-"

"If you don't stop crowding…"

Shwing.

"W-wait! Ugh, why does this have to happen to me?!"

The End

o-o-o-o-o

Bonus Character Profiles:

Tsuna. Human with hereditary vampire characteristics. He's more pessimistic than in the canon story, likely due to the fact he doesn't even have Kyoko to brighten up his day at school and that he spent a good chunk of his tutelage under Reborn without having made friends his age yet.

Hibari. Turned vampire. Extremely possessive of Namimori. He dislikes crowding of humans because it reminds him of how they've been prying Namimori out of his control through continual expansion of the town. He's still struggling with what Tsuna means to him.

Reborn. Fully Blooded vampire, special class. Tsuna's tutor. He's been trying to lead the change in vampire society for a while now and has been met with a lot of resistance.

Chigusa. Fully Blooded half-vampire half-fey. Due to experimentations, he can become stronger when bathed in moonlight. His body is frail under normal circumstances.

Ken. Fully Blooded half-vampire half-werewolf. Due to experimentations, he can transform his body into half wolf form. However, the conflicting blood makes it easy for him to lose control of himself.

Chrome. Human. A human with high spiritual levels and serves as Mukuro's primary host body. She wishes to be blooded one day so she can continue serving Mukuro, her saviour. However, she knows by doing so she would no longer be a suitable host for him.

Dino. Fully Blooded vampire. Kyouya's former teacher and Reborn's former student. He is part of a new wave that seeks positive change for magical creature society.

Lambo. Fully Blooded vampire. A very young vampire, he chased Reborn to Japan in order to battle him. Although he is a Bovino, he is being scouted as a potential member for the Vongola clan. Due to Verde's experimentation with forbidden technologies, his older self was thrown into the present.

I-pin. Human. Although she is very young, her physical potential makes her the target of being scouted by the Vongola. Her older self was also thrown into the present due reasons as stated above. Her older self has not yet been turned.

Final Thoughts: Rereading the whole thing before I wrote this end bit, the plot wasn't all that bad to me. The characterization and romance was pretty bad though, hahaha.

Thanks for reading.
