A/N: New stuff actually chapter 20, but if you want to read the whole thing again it's probably not a bad idea.

Dinner was over soon and the calmed pack looked to their new leaders once more. House and Cameron kissed softly for a moment savoring the taste of their lips one last time before changing. Standing hand in hand they disrobed and grew into their wolf form. They stretched and turned their eyes skyward and howled up into the night, the chorus grew around them as the rest of the pack changed too.

The blood chilling sound stopped. House and Cameron growled softly. With that the pack dispersed and ran off in their separate directions.

The echo of that howling chorus shivered through the entire estate and woke David from his unconscious state.

"Oh my god." He murmured afraid. Feeling around he found his glasses crushed and cracked. Pulling them on he peered between the lines around where he sat in the cold mud, behind him was The Wall standing 30ft and impossible to climb.

"Crap," he said getting to his feet, grunting as his right foot ached horribly under the slightest of his weight. His head ached too, there was blood hot and sticky on his cheek. Leaning against The Wall he waited for his eyes to adjust to the full moon. He was lost in a thickly wooded area with only The Wall behind him recognisable but it was backwards, entirely the wrong way round. Leaning on the great barrier he shuffled his way to the right hoping to find an exit soon.

David limped along for half an hour, sweat poured from him despite the chill and yet his surroundings looked no different. A cloud passed in front of the light of the moon casting him into shadow at which point he lost his footing. He cried out collapsing to the ground, he could go no further on his what he was now sure was a broken ankle.

From the woods he heard a howl in reply to his cry.

He could feel his heartbeat speed up, his breath coming in pants as he clawed his way back to his good foot at the horrendous sound. David shivered as the howling became louder and echoed in a way that made it all to clear there was more than one creature out there heading towards him. Limping as fast as he could, he made his way to a tree and tried to pull himself up. The pain from his foot seemed to sear through his whole body, that and the ever growing noises made tears spring to his eyes, washing away some of the blood and muck on his cheeks.

As howls and growls send shivers down his spine he found a surge of strength and threw his body up the tree once and then again.

And just in time.

Looking down he watched as at least 6 monstrous figures clustered around the base of the tree and began wrestling and fighting. One clawed at his tree, just inches away from him, before being dragged down by another. This happened over and over until one had beaten off the rest. It was the darkest black in colour and glared up at him with menacing green eyes.

David yelped in fear and tried to move further along the branch and away from the animal but the his foot ached horrifically and the limb of the tree treacherously thin. David wailed in anguish, there was nothing he could do. The monster below grinned evilly and began to climb, long yellow claws digging into the bark of the tree.

All of a sudden three more creatures arrived, streaks black, smoke and dark brown running in and circling the tree chasing away the others with ease and dragging the huge black beast back down to the ground.

David watched in horror as these new wolves reared to their full height and revealed their fearsome teeth. Five creatures dashed away instantly with the darkest of the new wolves in hot pursuit. The black creature that was so close to attacking him snarled loudly at the two tall wolves before skulking away from the clearing at a slow pace.

With trepidation he watched as the two wolves that remained dropped down on all fours before turning their gaze up to him.

David frowned, there was no malice in their eyes, no bloodlust like the others, only curiosity. Still, as the brown wolf stretched up the tree, he jerked back jarring his ankle making him cry out. The creature whined with pity before dropping back down to the ground.

Staring down into those bright green eyes, David was utterly confused. This pair were the most fierce to the others and yet almost kind to him, or at least seeming kind. David grew more surprised watching as the wolf lay down and rolled on its back, staring up at him expectantly. It then growled gently at the smoky black wolf until it too dropped down onto its back with a grunt.

He was no expert on wolves but he knew that dogs only did that to be friendly. He watched them watching him. It was clear these two were different from the others.

"Okay." He murmured, mostly to himself. "I'm coming down."

They rolled back onto their feet, stepped back and looked up at him expectantly.

David braced himself for his pain and turned his back to them, afraid that he'd be mauled to death that very instant.

But he wasn't.

He bit his lip so hard it bled as he struggled down the tree. A few feet from the ground he lost his grip and fell towards the Earth.

David was surprised when he felt something warm and soft catch him beneath his arm before lowering him slowly until his left foot touched the ground. The brown wolf had caught him, his right arm around it's wide neck.

He watched as it leaned down and sniffed at his limp right foot hanging in the air.

"I think it's broken."

It looked at him and tipped its head in the direction of its back.

"You... You want me to climb on your back?"

It nodded.

Wolves don't nod, do they? He thought with a frown.

It tipped its head again.

He shifted closer but struggled to get his limp ankle over the back of the huge wolf without hurting it any further. He heard a loud huff from behind him before something strong gripped his top of his pants lifting him into position.

'Thanks.' he said to the smoke wolf.

It grunted in reply before stiffening and staring out into the woods. He felt the brown wolf tense beneath him too. Despite his tiredness, he felt fear pouring through him again, he crouched down low to the wolf's fur trying to make himself as small as possible.

A black wolf came into view. He felt the brown wolf relax slightly, but he could tell the smoke wolf was still cautious, and with the look in the black wolves eyes it was no wonder.

The smoke wolf growled low and threatening, the sound seemed to shake the other; it's eyes flicked closed and then it shook his head before looking back over at them its demeanor now entirely soft and friendly.

A low soft growl sounded from the wolf he sat astride, the other two fell into formation at either side of it before they began trotting through the woods.

Suddenly, a wave of tiredness swept over him, his face pressed into warm and comforting fur consciousness slipped away.

Soon, the woods thinned, transforming into gardens and with that the atmosphere became tense and full. David roused a little feeling surprisingly well rested and was in much less pain than before.

He watched as the smoke wolf loped on ahead of the group towards a light, claws clacking softly on a smooth tarmac road.

"It's one of them! Shoot, shoot!" A voice sounded.

David raised his head and watched as the smoke wolf roared and reared up in front of them.

"No!" he called weakly but already the guard had shot at the wolf; it hunched forward groaning at the strike of a red dart in it's chest before growling and standing back up as tall as he could to protect them.

"Jesus, this one's strong!"

"No!" David yelled again, sliding from the brown wolf.

"Shoot him again they have a kid, for crying out loud!"

"We could kill him! Jeremiah said that would be an overdose."

"Shoot! Shoot!"

"Stop!" David roared loudly and limping forward, the two wolves on either side of him, helping him forward. "Don't shoot!"

The guards stared at him in awe.

The odd looking group drew level with the shakily standing smoke wolf. David watched as the brown wolf carefully pulled the dart with their teeth. The glass shattered as it hit the ground. The smoke wolf shook and dropped down to all fours, careful to miss the glass. The other two came to stand on either side of it to keep it upright, just as they had done for David.

"What the hell do you think you're doing, kid?!" Yelled the guard with the gun still pointed at him. "Get over here, they're dangerous!"

"They're not dangerous! They saved me!" he said yelled back before shuffling in front of the three and turning back to them. "Thank you."

They grunted softly but didn't move.

David nodded. They wouldn't leave till they saw that he was safe.

As he turned towards the gate and slowly made his way forward, he was glad to see the barrels of those now potentially deadly dart guns fall to the ground.

The lock clacked into place behind him and by the time he looked round the wolves were nothing more than a dark speck quickly blending with the surroundings. He sighed, something in him hoping he could meet them again.

"You okay, kid?" Asked a tall dark guard, his rifle slung over his shoulder.

"Yeah… I'm okay… I hurt my ankle when I fell over the wall, but they took care of me."

"They helped you? Why?" He asked helping the boy to walk to the guard house.

"I don't know why… they're were a whole pack of mad ones but they scared them away and brought me here. Those three, they saved me."

"No kidding." The guard murmured and dropped the boy into a seat. "You have to keep this to yourself boy… tell no one… not even your mother or father. If you did, you'd either end up in a mental asylum or those three as well as the others would be put in a lab a tested on." He warned.

"I… If I can see them again. I want… I want to say thank you properly." He said understanding what they were now that his mind wasn't so fogged with pain and adrenaline.

"I'll ask them. But if they say no I'm not going to push it. Not with one of their kind." He grumbled slightly. "Come on I'll take you to the hospital, then home. But I expect Mr Wesker will want to talk to you tomorrow."

David glared slightly at the guard before realising that he was the one that wanted to kill the smoke wolf. He decided he didn't like him at all and walked on painfully in front of him.
