"Everyone can dance, Harry," said Ginny, taking his hand and leading him onto the dance floor. Couples were twirling around and spinning all over, and the thought of having to do this made him dizzy.
"Harry, this ball is for you!" said Ginny tugging his hand harder. He didn't budge, and turned a very unpleasant color of green.
"I can d-dance, but I j-just don't want to!" Harry studdered.
"It'll make me really happy!" She gave him an award-winning smile. He couldn't resist that, and slowly walked towards the dance floor with his girlfriend.
He put one arm around her waist and grabbed the other one, as her hand landed on his shoulder.
"Now Harry, remember, this is just how we practiced it." Ginny said slowly, and began to move. Ministry officials were dancing with their partners all over. They were at the annual End-Of-The-War ball. It's been 7 years since Voldemort was diminished, and Harry still hated coming here, especially on a special night like tonight.
"Remember, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, turn." She whispered in his ear. Harry nodded and looked over the top of her head. Ron was on the sides, talking with some ministry officer. When the officer left, Ron turned and faced him. He gave Harry a thumbs-up, and went to get Hermione. Harry gulped.
"Harry, you ok?" asked Ginny, noticing his silence. Usually, whenever they had to dance like this, he couldn't stop chatting. He smiled down at Ginny reluctantly.
"Ginny-" he started but the music stopped. He looked around, and The Twisted Sisters got up on stage. The lead singer spoke into the microphone as the band tuned up.
"This is the last song of the night, so lets go out with a bang!" Harry gulped. His plan went down the toilet with every note they played. This wasn't supposed to happen.
Ginny squealed with delight, as Harry groaned.
"I love this song Harry!" said Ginny, pulling him into the crowd that started jumping up and down. Even for Ministry workers, they knew how to party.
Ginny began dancing improperly with Harry. Dancing like that should be illegal, thought Harry he watched her curves bump and grind with him. Thank God her parents are nowhere near.
The guitarist started a long and difficult solo as Ginny pulled him deeper into the throng or people. She danced even crazier as Harry reached for his pocket. He grasped it, and held it in his sweaty hand.
"Ginny!" he yelled over the still-soloing guitarist.
"I can't hear you!" Ginny screamed louder. Harry pushed his body closer to her, as she began to grind with him, again. He grabbed her arms and forced her to stop.
"What?" asked Ginny as she stood as still as the crowd would let her.
"Ginny! Will-" But the rest of the words were drowned out by the lead singer screaming into the microphone.
"What?!?" She asked again. He screamed his question, but Ginny still couldn't hear. She went back into pop-lock-dropping as he screamed his question louder. She just plain ignored him this time. He built up his courage and screamed as loud as possible.
"WILL YOU MARRY ME?!?!?" The song ended just as he started screaming. He looked like a fool. Harry blushed, as Ginny's eyes grew wide.
"Huh?" she asked anxiously.
"I think you heard me." Harry said smiling, unfolding the ring that had been in his hand for the past 5 minutes. Ginny smiled.
"Yes." She whispered, and Harry swept her in his arms and started kissing her. The crowd cheered, but after they kept going at it, they heard protests. They broke apart to laughter as everyone clapped.
"This calls for another song!" said the lead singer, as the guitarist started a slow and peaceful song. Harry grabbed her hand, but she pulled away.
"Harry, let's dance informally for once." She said, she wrapped her arms around her fiancés shoulders. He put his arms around Ginny's waist, and whispered into her ear.
"I told you I can dance."
