An L for an L

Disclaimer: I don't even have my L, never mind THE L…. Or Light for that matter, but no one cares about him. But I do own Mello, because I said so. And Matt's goggles cause they're awesome. Well, I own him too… but that's beside the point.

It was a nice peaceful day. The sun was out; people were walking around looking at the stores while a busy storekeeper was running out of the path of a car that seemed to be out of control. Alas, the story is not behind the hospital visit because of a heart attack of the unfortunate shop keeper but instead the raven haired man that was currently behind the wheel.

"You idiot! I told you to look where you wanted to go, not where you didn't want to go!" Light was in the passenger seat beside L, gripping the seat with white knuckles as the barely missed the young shop keeper.

"I'm sorry Light-kun….It's just so hard to concentrate sitting like this." Light grabbed the wheel and turned it so L returned to the proper lane.

"Why did you want to do this in the first place? I wouldn't have thought that you needed or even wanted to drive." Light grabbed the wheel again as L tried to steer into a candy shop.

"Well, I figured that if anything happened to Watari then I would not be able to get any sweets… So if I could drive, I wouldn't have to worry about it." L tried to slide his left foot up to himself but Light gave him a death glare and he slid it back down.

"Are you sure it had nothing to do with you getting an "L"?"

"I have to admit that was part of it" L said, smiling a bit. "If I would have known I had to sit like this though I wouldn't have tried it."

"No offence," Light started, once again steering L out of trouble. "But you really suck at driving."

"It's up to 60 now." L said as he smiled again.

"Damnit. Well, then… I guess it wouldn't hurt if I said this now…"

"Said what Light-kun?" L questioned as he steered himself out of trouble.

Light put on his best 'Don't hate me, I'm not kira' face. "L…. I love you."

L immediately went into shock. He jerked the wheel hard to the left and luckily missed the hobo that was lying on the ground. He pulled his feet up to his body to think more clearly, making the car stop in the process. Hitting the wall of the closest building completely stopped their progress. "Wha-what did you say, Light-kun? Are you… serious???" L's eyes were open even wider then usual.

Light laughed, "You actually thought I was serious didn't you? I wanted to see if you would pay more attention to the road then to me, but I guess not."

"Hmm…" L started, looking at the slightly bent front of the car, "I guess that means I don't get my L…"
